  1. Bayern Munich have told Nicolas Jackson to return to Chelsea after his loan move was cancelled on Saturday. https://metro.co.uk/2025/08/30/bayern-munich-send-message-nicolas-jackson-refusing-Chelsea-return-24037156/?ito=newsnow-feed Jackson was poised to join the Bundesliga champions on a season-long loan for £13 million and had travelled to Germany on Saturday to finalise the move. Bayern also had the option to make the move permanent next year for £56.2m. However, Liam Delap suffered a hamstring injury in Saturday’s lunchtime Premier League fixture as Chelsea sealed a 2-0 win at home to Fulham. Enzo Maresca expects Delap to miss at least six weeks, which leaves Joao Pedro as Chelsea’s only recognised striker. Jackson, however, has been left furious with Chelsea’s decision and has remained in Munich on Saturday. Bayern’s sporting director, Max Eberl, revealed on Saturday that Jackson has been ordered by both clubs to travel back to London and believes resurrecting a deal for the Chelsea striker is ‘not possible’. ‘Chelsea said shortly before the game that they would like the player back after we reached an agreement yesterday,’ Eberl said after Bayern’s 3-2 win over Augsburg. ‘The current situation is that the boy is here in Munich, but we’re sending him back. That’s the current status; I can’t predict the future. I’m not in a position to act now. We would have liked to have done the medical and signed the contract, but that’s not possible now. ‘We’re telling the player and his agent they have to go back to London. We don’t have a signed contract, even though we’ve reached an agreement. He has a contract with Chelsea ‘At the moment, that’s the situation. I won’t comment on what I’m doing and how I’m trying. ‘We have 48 hours left. This isn’t a situation we’ve really planned for, but we’ll find a solution for that, too. ‘First, we’ll consider whether to act. As long as we can act, we’ll consider whether to do anything else. If we then decide not to do anything else, that’s a decision.’

  5. Chelsea is delighted to confirm the signing of Alejandro Garnacho from Manchester United. https://www.chelseafc.com/en/news/article/Chelsea-complete-alejandro-garnacho-signing The Argentina international, who turned 21 in July, has signed a long-term deal at Stamford Bridge that runs through to 2032. Garnacho already has 93 Premier League appearances to his name and has scored 16 times, including a stunning bicycle kick against Everton that won the 2024 FIFA Puskas Award, having been a regular in Man United’s side for the past two seasons. Garnacho said: 'It’s an incredible moment for my family and I to join this great club. I can’t wait to get started. I watched the Club World Cup and to join the world champions is special – we’re the best team in the world! It’s amazing to be here and I’m very happy.' Garnacho was born and grew up in Madrid, and he spent time in the Getafe and Atletico Madrid academies before moving to Manchester in October 2020 as a 16-year-old. Following impressive performances for Man United’s youth teams, Garnacho was handed his senior debut as a substitute in a 1-1 draw with Chelsea in April 2022, shortly before his 18th birthday. He began to feature more often the following campaign, scoring five goals in 34 appearances in all competitions, among them his first in the Premier League, a last-minute winner away to Fulham. By 2023/24, Garnacho had well and truly established himself as a starter at Man United. He netted seven Premier League goals in 36 games, including that memorable strike at Goodison Park and a brace in the dramatic 4-3 Chelsea victory at Stamford Bridge. He also sampled Champions League football for the first time, scoring in a 3-3 draw away to Galatasaray. Last season, Garnacho again featured prominently across all competitions, playing 58 games, finding the net on 11 occasions, and providing ten assists. In total, Garnacho registered 48 goal involvements in 144 appearances for the Red Devils. First called up to the Argentina squad in March 2023, Garnacho made his senior international debut that summer in a friendly win in Australia. He was a member of Argentina’s squad that won the Copa America in 2024 and has eight caps to his name so far, often playing alongside Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez. Welcome to Stamford Bridge, Alejandro!

  9. Chelsea inform Bayern Munich they will not proceed with Nicolas Jackson loan after Liam Delap injury https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6585836/2025/08/30/nicolas-jackson-bayern-loan-Chelsea-delap-injury/ By David Ornstein Chelsea have informed Bayern Munich they will not be proceeding with the loan move for Nicolas Jackson and have asked him to return to London after Liam Delap’s injury. Delap sustained a hamstring injury during Saturday’s victory over Fulham and head coach Enzo Maresca said at full time he expected the striker to be sidelined for up to eight weeks. The Athletic reported on Saturday Bayern had reached an agreement with Chelsea to sign Jackson, with the proposed deal for a season-long loan with an option to buy worth a total package of €80million (£69m; $93.5m). Jackson, 24, had been given permission to travel to Germany today (Saturday) ahead of undergoing a medical with the Bundesliga champions. Delap, who signed for Chelsea from Ipswich Town for £30million ($40m) this summer, was withdrawn on 14 minutes after pulling up at Stamford Bridge and immediately gesturing to his hamstring. He was replaced by Tyrique George. Delap’s injury and Jackson’s proposed departure would have left summer signing Joao Pedro as Chelsea’s only recognised senior striker. “When you have two strikers it is enough, when one of them is injured for weeks it is not enough,” Maresca said at full time on Saturday. “Today we played for more than one hour with Tyrique and he did brilliant. “The last time he played as a No 9 was against Manchester United last year. We tried to use different solutions. If you remember there were some games where we used Pedro (Neto) as a No 9. But for sure when you have two proper No 9’s it is enough.” Jackson’s Chelsea future had been the subject of uncertainty throughout the summer after he dropped behind summer arrivals Delap and Joao Pedro in the pecking order at Stamford Bridge. He was left out of Maresca’s squad for the pre-season friendlies against Bayer Leverkusen and Milan as Chelsea and the striker explored a possible transfer in the final weeks of the summer window. Are Chelsea making the right decision? Analysis from The Athletic’s Chelsea Writer Simon Johnson There is never a dull moment at Chelsea but this is the right call. They had to act fast following Delap’s injury and they have made a good decision. With the schedule getting so much tougher when the Champions League gets under way from mid-September, Chelsea could not afford to be down to one recognised striker in Joao Pedro. Maresca revealed shortly after the win over Fulham that he expects Delap to be ruled out for up to eight weeks, that is a significant period of time which could have effected their ability to challenge at home and abroad. The task of reintegrating Jackson into the camp might not be so easy. The forward was happy to be leaving England for a fresh challenge at Bayern Munich. Chelsea made their intentions clear by dropping him down the pecking order when they signed Delap and Joao Pedro in June. The Senegal international wanted to leave, especially with the ambitions of playing at the World Cup next year and worried about a lack of game time. Jackson has been expecting to depart in recent weeks. Crucially Chelsea kept him training with the first team rather than making him train away from the main group with players who are surplus to requirements like Raheem Sterling and Ben Chilwell. That means he is not coming in from the cold at least and still has a good understanding with his teammates. And ultimately Chelsea are recalling a player that knows Maresca’s methods and has scored 24 Premier League goals in two seasons.
