I am really worried for Kante. I think Sarri is reducing the best dm in the world to an average player.

You must not have watched Benzema so far this year, now that he is back as a pure point man. His role was also different much of the time in the past couple of seasons with RM, and he had a nine year run (including with Real up until 2016-17) where he averaged almost 25 goals a year and 14 assists, including 2 seasons over 30 goals.
Vastly superior player compared to Morata.

I’m sure he has a lot on his mind atm, and congrats to him, but as one who actually praises his play even when he does not score, there is very little to praise about his performance against Bournemouth... giroud came in and did his regular slow thing and it was a hell lot more than what morata did.
needs to do a lot more to remain at this club.

Klopp,Poch and Pep had bloody allot longer to sort their lot out than Sarri has.
I dont think any of us are naive enough to think we would go thru the season without some bumps and bruises. Each games a lesson and as long as the lads learn from losses (and we lose with style and not giving in) then we take whats coming to us and make it harder for the bastards the next time.
I never imagined we would play like this again so I'm just happy to watch them right now.

Oh wait, this is a thread about Kepa. And I wanted to talk about Kepa's performances in the first matches of the season not Luiz.
Kepa has potential to be very good. But why should we avoid talking about his weak points until that potential might be fulfilled? I like him and hope he ends up as a big success. But he has not impressed me so far. My post was not just about today, but also the previous matches where he has looked shaky and let a few goals in I think quite a few keepers in the league would have had.

Had also very Caballer-esque pass in first half, luckliy for him opponent didn't catch the ball, but the decision to play pass like that was very stupid

Another not so great goal conceded by him today. Had his hands on it again, but somehow his wrists just seems too weak again to keep it out half the time.
 
 
 

I think this is a sound assessment though I confess to a sneaking feeling that Marcin may have saved the first goal. Sneaking feelings don't add up to much however and we will never know for sure. Let's be patient with Kepa and give him all the support he needs.

I'd love it.  I just think it's a step too far.  IMO.

I’m still skeptical over Kante’s new position. Is he really necessary to play so high up? It feels like we’re wasting his supreme strengths which are defending and intercepting at the deepest of the midfield, shielding our back line. He is THE BEST DM in the world after all.

Don't get me wrong, I know he's not the finished article.  I just didn't think his distribution skills have been all that.  Better than Courtois? yes.  If it doesn't get better, yes, there's a problem.  but, it's because that would mean he's hit his peak as a GK at 23.

I'm not convinced that his distribution is all that good, TBH.

With that 17 on his back, he stature and how he moves, I was having trouble distinguishing him and Hazard on the pitch. They play very similarly!

Ok. He was never a good player, but he is currently at the 'Torres level'.

I know it's still early days in the season but pray this doesn't become a thing over the next 8-9 months. We used to praise Torres for his performances but not the main thing he was bought to do - score the goals. Don't need and can't afford Morata to go down the same route.

I think false 9 will be a serious option. Pedro or Hazard can play in that role. Fluidity and flexibility across attackers is key for Sarri. He likes his forwards to drop deep anyways. Could mean more time for CHO on the wing as well. 

i guess its safe to say Sarri wants to make Hazard play like Mertens does for Napoli, i dont mind this at all if it means Hazard can score double figures this season 

Bats is NOT even remotely close to Higuain (who I didn't want to sign anyway as he is too old soon). Higuain is also massively fit after a big summer fitness routine. Have you seen the new videos and pics of him?
