No way Jose loses both Terry and Ivanovic.
He values experience and character. We are going to have to endure it this season.
I think Jose plays a Matic-Mikel-Ramires midfield to protect our back four before he drops both JT and Ivanovic.
I feel sorry for Cesc the most. Hes supposed to be our creative hub, but he's killing himself running all game to cover and defend because these muppets have lost their game. He cant bust his ass covering and have energy left to thread killer passes and break down defences.

Anyone else loving how deep Oscar is dropping this preseason? At times we are playing a 4-3-3, with a Fab-Matic-Oscar, which is great as we are better able to pass around.
And then that one point where we had a diamond with Matic at the base, Hazard at #10 and Oscar and Fab on the wings. It was brilliant the passing.
I just hope Jose doesn't mis-manage him. He has to understand that Oscar is a player that gets burned out, and he can't "Mourinho" him by pushing and pushing and expecting more.
Rest him, rest him often, even if it looks like the team is firing on all cylinders. think long term. he's so bloody good.

We aren't ruining anyone. These kids are getting their profiles raised by signing for Chelsea, they are getting the best facilities in the world for training and developing, they are geting paid handsomely, and they are getting loans to quality clubs.
I like Musonda, and think he should be getting 1st team chances, but this absurd victimization of Musonda/youths and this pity party for the fallen young is silly. No one's career has been ruined because they signed for us. They either made it into the 1st team (like Courtois and Traore is about to) or they get sold to quality clubs (like Lukaku and KdB and Bertrand).

There are three options open to the club:
1) Take a chance on him and throw him out here in proper matches to blood him.
2) Loan him out for a season to a professional team that will give him proper game time.
3) Sell him.
I don't think Musonda spending another year in the U21s is helpful at all. He's ready to step up. I don't see why we can't play him in cup games. Throw him out wide in an attacking three of Musonda-Willian-Cuadrado and see what happens.
And honestly, can Charly do any worse than the half-dozen games Cuadrado played? Juan was dog shit poor, and yet Jose has faith in him and thinks he'll come through. Why not show that faith in a youth player? Why does he reserve faith for the likes of Falcao and Cuadrado who may come through and not Musonda who may also come through. All three are a risky play. Of those three, i'd put faith in Musonda at this point.
Game time can only benefit someone this good. He's not one of those that is going to crumble mentally if he has a bad game. He has future top player written all over him.

fact is no one knows the sure fire way to develop players. Jose seems to think there are players who need loans and there are players that are better off being integrated into the 1st team at a young age. He felt Izzy Brown, Baker and Christensen needed loans, and feels that RLC doesn't.
At the moment, I'll go with Jose on this one.

But working in a squad with the likes of Matic, Cesc, Hazard and all the other top class professional will bring him further in his career. Not to mention learning the position and system directly from Jose will be huge.
We play between 50-60 games in a season. There are plenty of minutes there for RLC. All he has to do is be better than Mikel and Ramires at CM and he will get minutes. Between them the pair made 20 starts in the EPL alone.

How is #10 best for him? He's very poor under pressure. He can't really work in tight areas. We saw this in the post-season games where he just sort of ran into people and lost the ball, rather than maneuver in the space.
His best attribute has always been running with the ball. That comes from playing in midfield. Yeah, it takes maturity to play in midfield, but we have Matic.
Remember how dominant a Matic-Luiz midfield was? Matic did all the right things, and Luiz took the risks. Matic is an immense player and anyone beside him will not be exposed if they make mistakes. He's a big reason why Cesc has done better than expected at CM. Dude is a machine.
If Jose actually plays RLC, it will be in midfield. As a #10, RLC lacks immensely in technical ability.

First of all, Willian is not a better player than Oscar. Putting in a defensive shift and the odd goal doesn't make him better. If we are to compare them as #10's, which is the main point, Willian is far inferior. If you watched Sky Sports broadcasts you would have picked up on Gary Neville's analysis in game against Liescter and Crystal Palace about how Willian is ineffective inside, in tight areas, and is only really effective when he can make runs from deep midfield down the channels.
In this system, Oscar is the superior #10.
As for work rate. Willian puts in a shift, but it's not comparable to the pressing Oscar provides. Just watch the Arsenal game at home and you will see time and time again Oscar clearing the ball on the edge of our penalty box.
Running up and down, like Willian, is different from pressing in the center of the field, where you have to continuously change direction. Lateral movement and changing direction wears you down like no one's business.
