The club really needs to spend upwards of at least 150 million pounds to rebuild the spine of the team as well as a left or right back. 
Unfortunately, I foresee the Board sanctioning no more than 70 million pounds to spend and that's gross spend.

I think we might be but it is a concern if he gets ostracized. I mean even in the Sporting match when he scored, Diego didn't seem too happy. Hopefully it's just cos it's a meaningless game anyways and we are just clutching at straws.

The only game I remember being really frustrated by his decision making this season was Bolton. Yesterday was completely natural for a fringe player who's desperate to show more of himself so I don't get the overreaction.

Drogs and Cesc where visibly mad at him during certain stages of the game. I get that a bench player plays more selfish, but his contribution to our overall game is really bad. Looks clumsy all the time, and is not suited for the one-touch attacking game in the final third. Hope he improves, but i rather see him gone at the end of the season so we can bring in fresh blood.

but I do hope it's not mono... many athletes don't ever recovery physically from it. It can be nasty for professional athletes. They can still lead a normal life but can't perform at high level the way it's demanded by modern sports.

One bad game can decide the outcome of a whole season.
Title contention will be extremely close and 1 point could make a huge difference. And if Cahill blunders the last game, as he's been doing lately and we lose because of him, he'll be hated and despised and all fans will turn on him and he'll be booed off the pitch. Right now we just want others to be given an opportunity. That's all.

This is just a bad era for defenders. Even the supposedly world class defenders like Benatia,Silva,Hummels are struggling. In the last 4 seasons I can't point to any defender that has played at elite level for 4 straight seasons. One good/great season is usually accompanied by a terrible one for overwhelming majority of defenders and Kompany is the epitome of that. Cahill is simply following the trend.

Agree to disagree... Clearly what you're seeing in him is DEFINITELY in stark contrast to what I see. Without JT you'd trust Cahill to be your rock in the back? I wouldn't.

Yes we sold Luiz because we had no belief he was a CB. Yes we went into the season with only 2 senior CB's because Benatia decided to go play for Bayern and Mangala(who is rubbish) went to City for a fortune. We also bought Luis to play LB so we could have the option of Brana at CB so we actually have 3 senior CB's.
He was poor against Everton (nobody remembers that because we won 6-3) he was poor against City (very tough team in his defense). Its not always the chances that lead to goals that I look at, its the mistake made that could've been goals as well.
Couple that with the fact that we rarely are in positions where we concede chances to go at our back 4 because we're always on the front foot or because our pressing has kept teams from getting out and you can see why the few opportunities Cahill has been exposed in have led to good chances.
If you can tell me a game where he bossed it and was near man of the match then you may have a point. We don't do a lot of defending and when we give up the odd chance he's been highly susceptible to mistakes. He backs off players like they have the plague.

Always believed in David, it just wasn't meant to be at Chelsea because of our play style and defence. His best season was his first season under Carlo when JT still had a bit of speed, and he was world class in the Rafa season with Ivanovic in defence because we played with a high fluid line.
Anyway on Cahill, let's be honest he is in the team because he is English and because Jose won't trust someone like Kalas or Zouma next to JT incase they push too high. The only reason we haven't moved Iva to CB and used Azpi and Luis as two attacking fullbacks is because Terry would get destroyed on the counter. Cahill has always been covered up by others, in his first season by the fact we parked the bus, he didn't play much in the Rafa season when for me, we played the best football and the best style, with a high pressing fluid back line, and with Mouriniho he has been covered by parking the bus and Matic, JT, Iva. He is awkward on the ball, ooks like a lost sheep off the ball without Terry holding his hand, he is decent, but he's not a winner or someone that will help us become a memorable team.
