Jose more than anyone knows the value and balance Mikel brings to our side. There was no spaces in our midfield yesterday, our back four was duly shielded and that was down to him, not to mention the way he frees up Ramires. He's had 5 or 6 great games in a row, the shirt is his and I don't see anyone capable of taking it away from him in the holding role.

He looked a little slow in the first two minutes he was on but afterwards he was good, took his goal really well too.

That's a different story, Ramires is doing fine with Mikel.

The baby faced assassin was boss again tonight, the 3 lads behind the striker covered and interchanged really well despite the way Schalke pressed in midfield.

He still looks quick, agile, skilful and can finish like very few in the world can, he works extremely hard off the ball as well.

It's not gonna happen, Mourinho doesn't play Mata there because he needs freedom just like Lampard.

That's much better from Frank, in a more free role, against tired legs with two players behind him - although Ramires overlapped him and he covered a few times. Even the commentator said the holding roles doesn't suit him.

You could say that, but in my opinion, the Lampard of today will never excel in his new makeshift role, at 35 he just cannot cope with the amount of ground he has to cover, all I see is him chasing after players trying to tug their shirts once they've gone past him. That's my whole point with Frankie, I'd have no problems seeing him starting certain games in a more forward role with two players behind him, in a sort of 4-3-3. But that's a discussion for another day. If it is indeed Willian - Oscar - Andre starting tonight, that's gonna be quite interesting as it's one of the combinations I wanted to see behind the striker. If it's not, it doesn't matter one bit as all I want is a victory and the three points thank you very much, regardless of who starts.

Just saw a tweet from Jason Cundy saying Mata, Luiz, Hazard, Cole and Lampard have all been dropped for tonight's match. It's a picture from a newspaper back page. It's a bit unfair by Mourinho I'd say, to drop Hazard after one bad game whilst it took him 10 or so matches to do the same with Lampard.
