  1. Sterling is one of the most promising already established english young players along with Chamberlain. If there's a chance to sign him we should be trying all the way. The only real weakness he has IMO is his finishing, which can be improved if he works on it. He could become a goalscoring machine if he had more composure infront of the goal. His movement and speed are top notch. and we've already seen his defensive work under Brendan. The other possible concern about this transfer is it's extremelly costy, which suggest we wont be signing any other big name for this position in at least 2 years time and will likely miss some bargain deals. On a positive side, he's english and very young = very good resale value.
  2. If there is a real interest from Marseille to take him him on loan, it would be a real opportunity for him to kickstart his carreer especially after with the departures of Ayew and Payet. An opportunity for him to return to his hometown and youth club as well.
  3. He is the striker se should be looking to sign rather than Falcao. Different player profile suited to team, played in the EPL and excellent impact sub. It's no secret Jose likes him too. The only possible explanation as to why we aren't trying for him is the club think he's completely out of reach(rival team) and/or his wages.
  4. I think we can agree most of us understand his decision and will continue to respect him and be grateful to what he has done for the club. But it's become clear he isn't on par with the real greats of the past era (JT, Drogba).
  5. I don't watch much of la liga but Monaco scouts seems to have a good eye for talent looking at their latest signings. Something I found on YT if anyone cares.
  6. One thing that really disapointed me about Filipe are his crosses. For a fullback who's supposedly very good going forward his crosses were often inaccurate or lacked effect. Jose tried to sub him in a few times when we needed a goal but he didn't really make the difference although part of the problem is that Eden dont use his fullback as much as he should. I liked Filipe a lot when he was at Atletico but it seems he won't have a significant place here. I don't mind that we use him to land either Grizzy or Alderweireld.
  7. Jose is playing Azpi on the left because he's nothing special in terms of attacking abilities. But he's most certainly the best defending fullback in the world. Combine that with the fact that Eden plays on the left thus making that side very fragile it's difficult to see Cesar moving to the right side anytime soon.
  8. He's probably going to end up at United. They need a striker and they're the only ones that can afford him for the fees mentionned.
  9. I can see Fekir overtaking Valbuena's spot for Euro2016 if keeps improving. but it's very unlikely that Lacazette will ever get a run at the striker role over Benzema. There are better players ahead of him on the wings as well. Also, depending on his Martial's evolution next season, he could potentially lose his place in the NT. The monaco player is a real gem.
  10. Ntep should be getting a place over Lacazette easily. They dont't have an explosive player like him in the squad. He would fit like a glove in the EPL too.
  11. Makes sense if we're going to sign a top CB. Cahill will be backup and Zouma would not get much playing time. I'm surprised better clubs are not interessed though.
  12. If you're looking for creative midfielders you've been watching the wrong players. Schneiderlin is a n6 who can also play 8. Imbula and Kondogbia are box to box players. Imbula has a great left foot but Kondo is more powerful, better defensively and he plays really great balls forward after he takes it. I wouldn't even look at Imbula because we have a better player in Ramires IMO. I don't think we lack creativity in the midfield. We already have Cesc and Matic is good when we are in possession, but both are too slow to play at high intensity especially in europe.
  13. I like Imbula but he's not chelsea quality. He could make it at liverpool, spurs but not here IMO.Kondogbia is a real quality player, potential elite. I'd love him here. Monaco paid around 20m€ for him. They would want at least 30 but I think they would rather keep him than sell for that kind of fee.
  14. I think Falcao is still a good player despite his bad spell at United, but he's probably not the best option for us. We should be looking at a more physical striker like Didier. We had some of the best performances from our attacking midfielders when Drogba was playing as a target man pressuring the center backs.
  15. I don't agree, He has a superb vision IMO. Maybe it's not so obvious because he plays less long passes unlike Cesc who tries a lot of risky passes. Cesc complemented him in an interview saying he reminded him of Xavi, tells you a lot about the player. I think Fabregas is fantastic but his lack of atletic ability is the one thing that make him a step down from the likes of Xavi Iniesta etc.. however it's unfair to say he can't hold the ball under pressure. He's no Mata.
  16. If he accepts to significantly lower his wages and fight for his place it's realistic, but I'm not sure Falcao is type of striker we need.
  17. Technically he's amazing, eye for the goal, excellent movement, end product and stats. I also love that he can score headers despite being small. I'd take him in a heartbeat. The only thing that worries me is his weak body.
  18. With Jose Mourinho, Pep Guardiola, Van Gaal and united spending big and the new TV deal I feel the PL is going to be huge again.
  19. I like him but he is not what we need right now. What we need is a top CB with experience, someone who can effectively replace JT and improve the current squad to compete in europe. Varane makes sense because despite his young age he has bags of experience in him whereas Stones only started to play regularly this season. Also we already have the young promising CB in Zouma(although not as good as Stones).
  20. His first miss in a league competition not the first miss in his career. Speroni obviously knew how he takes his pens.
  21. Overrated IMO. He did well this season but way beyond his abilities.noway he's going to have similar stats next season. If we're going to sign players from OL we should be looking at Fekir,Umtiti,Tolisso.
  22. Very Harsh. Everyone can be sloppy under pressure but I personally think Cesc is the calmest player when he's being pressed, you often see players turn to him for a pass when we they need someone reliable to keep possession. Obviously he doesn't have the pace of Willian or Eden to help him or the Physical presence of Nemanja so a good pass is generally the best he can do under pressure. Still miles ahead of Mata in that aspect though. He is no Iniesta but he can dribble, he would be a lot better at it if he had a bit more pace unfortunately. Also his overall passing has only regressed in the second part of the season imo. Other than his passing ability, he runs effortlessly for 90 minutes pressing or making himself available. he is the king of width, vertical passes/runs/space occupation.
  23. If i'm not wrong everytime we played without a striker under jose(schurrle) the score was a draw. I also think they were away games.
  24. Oscar will probably be upfront to press and Eden the furthest forward when we are countering.
  25. Being bigger means he's already built for the PL and will probably adapt faster than other youngsters. It's not the only requirement obviously but it helps enormously. I believe the other talented youth will also get their chances but they will have to prove their worth in the limited time they're given. Very limited time.
