Both of our strikers struggle in tight spaces, Joao Pedro maybe a bit better in that regard. Neither of them are strong aerially either. If they had an aerial threat, things would have been better. Even an over-age Giroud would do a better job. Delap for all his height, strength and being called an old fashioned English forward, can't really convert anything aerially to take advantage of crosses in the box. Directors didn't look at the qualities each striker would bring when making signings, and instead looked at the most value for money deals on paper.

Hard to judge his time when heโs had two separate injuries in his time here and obviously needed time before taking on a starting role at a big club
-
I mean i knew he wasnโt our new Costa but this is taking the piss.
-
I hope we don't wait another season with him to see if he does anything, he is fucking shit and needs to get rid this summer, terrible player.
-
Has more yellow cards than goals + assists. Must be some kind of Stoke city heritage.
-
No side has dropped more points from winning positions this season than Chelsea (13). Shows the weak mentality of both players and manager in terms of how to control a game.

Enzo Maresca on the lessons learned today: "In this moment, it's difficult to analyse because we need to realise how to manage a game in a better way. It can be experience, or it can be something we need to analyse." (@BobbyVincentFL)

Caicedo will stick around. Palmer might choose to jump ship if Chelsea dont secure top 5. And IMO., I don't think the club will mind it if Palmer decides to force a move. Clearlake & co., will have dollar signs in their eyes thinking about potential transfer fees associated with that move.
-
Well that explains the Gusto sub. Putting him at LB though, was stupid. James had played well at LB before, and he should have moved him there allowing Gusto to play in his natural position. As for Badiashile starting this game, the less said the better. Crackpot directors and subservient manager will continue to rotate this lineup till the end of the season, regardless of these results., until a top 5 finish comes under risk.

Wouldnโt shock me at all if we are forced to make a massive sale soon because of their dogshit planning and running of the club. If Madrid or Barca decide they want Caicedo thereโs no chance he passes up that chance. And even apart from the shocking decisions they make with so many of our signings, theyโre just as incompetent in regards to off the pitch stuff. Theyโve been in charge of the club for YEARS now and we STILL have no FOS sponsor. One of the biggest, most successful, most famous clubs in the world playing in the best league in the world and we have been unable to attract a main sponsor. Literally, how is that possible? Likewise, there has been ZERO progress or update on what the fuck weโre doing with the stadium plans. Weโve watched as potential plan after potential plan has evaporated with not a peep from the owners. Every one of our rival big clubs either have shiny new stadiums, are in the process of building them, or are talking about expanding their current ones which are already much bigger than ours. Even clubs with a fraction of our stature have gotten beautiful new stadiums. All of this combined with this dreadful, idiotic โyouth onlyโ transfer policy, PLUS the strict wage structure means that we are going to be stuck in this same place for the foreseeable future. Battling for 4th/5th/6th every season whilst watching clubs we used to compete with or dominate leave us miles in the dust.

Made a triple sub on 59th minute. Look at the stats after then. Chelsea: 0/3 Shots on Target, 10 Touches in Opposition Box, 38 Passes in Final 3rd, 44% Possession. Villa: 8/9 Shots on Target, 14 Touches in Opposition Box, 41 Passes in Final 3rd, 56% Possession. This is what happens when you spend the best part of ยฃ2.5bn on shite and/or unproven players & appoint bang average managers, sporting directors ๐ Been saying it for about 18 months now. Piss poor at all levels. There will be stories of Palmer & Caicedo will be wanting to leave next summer if things donโt improve, any self respecting top elite player who could have their pick of teams, would be looking to do so anyway.
-
Played him into the ground. I know Hato hasn't been great yet but still.should be used more to find his feet and most important for now, avoid Cucu getting burnt out or injured.
-
Should sell Tosin,Badi and Gusto if anyone will take the first two.Gusto has had a few decent games so should be interest and maybe teams won't have picked up on his fatal flaw of being a dracula when somebody brings a cross.

Maresca injury update on regular starter could be terrible news for Chelsea โ one game out at least https://Chelsea.news/2025/12/maresca-injury-update-regular-starter-terrible-news/ Enzo Maresca has just taken his press conference after Chelseaโs defeat to Aston Villa in the Premier League this evening. The manager had to address a few topics, including how his team had been unable to complete their win despite a dominant first half performance and a lead. โIn this moment itโs difficult to analyse because we need to understand again why when we concede a goal we struggle to manage the game in a better way,โ the manager said. โAgain, it can be experience or it can be that we need to analyse and we need to understand that.โ Maresca has bad news update on Cucurella after sub Also on the agenda was Marc Cucurella, who was taken off in the second half as part of a series of changes which really took the wind out of his teamโs sails and altered the course of the game. โBecause he was complaining about hamstring, so we donโt know if itโs an injury now or not. So he asked for the change,โ Maresca said. Cucurella has been played to the limit this season, and itโs quite amazing that he hasnโt already picked up an injury. Even if this is just a minor bit of soreness, they surely have to now rest the Spaniard on Tuesday night. Otherwise they risk losing him for more time just as things start to get busy. So even in the best case, we will be looking at a game out for Cucu. In other newsโฆ Maresca also spoke about the decision to take off Cole Palmer, who reacted with some frustration to the decision. Despite Chelsea dominating (and despite scoring their goal), Joao Pedro was just not good enough for Chelsea in the game, failing to create enough threat for his team.

โLeave Him in 2025โ - Chelsea Have Moved on From 5/10 Dud After Aston Villa Nightmare https://www.givemesport.com/Chelsea-aston-villa-benoit-badiashile-should-be-left-in-2025/ Benoit Badiashile Endures Torrid Evening vs Villa Although Chelsea were very impressive in the first half and good value for their lead, everything slowly started to shift in the second 45 minutes. Gradually, Maresca's side began to lose control of the game as Villa poured forward, with the Blues losing momentum and ultimately three points. A huge reason for that was because of the frantic nature to their defending following the introduction of Ollie Watkins. The English striker gave Emery's side someone to play off and he started to cause problems for Benoit Badiashile, who went from composed and calm in the first half to lost at sea for much of the second. It was the French international's mistake which ultimately led to Villa's equaliser, as he gave the ball away in a dangerous area, which then allowed Rogers to play Watkins in for the equaliser. But there was plenty more to dislike about his performance, with him giving away possession six times. There's been a widespread consensus that Chelsea's depth at centre-back simply isn't good enough to take them to the next level, and Badiashile's performance on Saturday evening helped confirm that the Blues need better options to challenge for the league. Handed a 5/10 in GIVEMESPORT's player ratings from the game, Maresca will want to see much improved performances if he's to retain faith in the 24-year-old. Chelsea Supporters Want Badiashile Gone While the club hierarchy and coaching staff might be willing to give Badiashile time to prove himself for the remainder of the season, Chelsea fans have had enough of him. Some have called for him to be sold when the January transfer window opens, with one writing on social media: "We need to leave Badiashile in 2025. Genuinely one of the worst defenders weโve ever employed." Those thoughts were shared by many other furious supporters. Another added: "Badiashile starting is at least at a -1 handicap in every single game. Prove me wrong." One more said: "Sanchez did all he could, Badiashile with another bozo moment. Totally unacceptable and unnecessary." And a fellow Blues supporter, writing after Villa's first goal, stated: "All of that came from Badiashile. Get rid of this guy, why does he actually have fans in this fanbase?" Journalist Hugh Woozencroft also joined the debate, writing: "Badiashile. How on earth can he start games of this magnitude. He's been playing tennis for the last 15 minutes and inevitably plays a loose ball which leads to the Villa equaliser." And a final supporter summed up the general mood towards the centre-back, stating: "I donโt want Badiashile to start for us ever again."
-
Wish the media would question him on these decisions, but that wouldnt be a newsworthy story
-
Villa XG in the first half was zero
-
Wish they would stop rotating the back 4 so much. Unfortunately Clearlake have equipped Maresca with an army of data analysts that encourage him to slot in squad players like Badiashile and Tosin whenever possible
-
Started so well, but you knew if the chances weren't executed, they'd wait and score. Irony is Sanchez has been impeccable of late, just the keystone cops in front of him...

Meanwhile Emery going home with the 3 points and 12 wins out of last 13 PL games while this lightbulb still makes subs all over the place and showing fuck all.
-
Just watched the highlights back, we got a proper number done on us here....Emery pro active, Villa stayed at it and in the game and schooled us, just like we would have done years ago. Now we just cower in a corner
-
Emery exposing this bald fraud nothing new.

Hahaha I have also a life, Chelsea results and broโs posts on an internet hardly influence me. Neither should you. Get a life, bro.

We must have dropped a fair few points from winning positions so far Just looked 11 at home. Not sure away
