If they play on using him and Fernandes as 8’s with Casemiro holding they are fucked. Frank also tried this with Mount and Havertz with Kante holding and it didn’t work. Tuchel also used Mount in the double 6 a few times and it didn’t work.

EtH clueless if thats his whole reasoning in signing Mason. As a 10 perhaps with Casemiro and a more box to box/defensively astute player, I could see it having some success but two 10’s as 8’s. Hopeless.

Foden is amazing... what a player.

The silver lining for Halland is that he's really not that skillful: pretty average on the ball. His off-the-ball movement, however, is the best I've seen... same for his finishing.

Guardiola is actually pulling a potter here and playing Grealish as wingback, not a back 4 with Gardiol as LB. I guess if your players are this well drilled, the formation does not really matter.

Having Haaland plus Alvarez is a cheat code tho. If one is having an off day like Haaland today, the other steps up. Also the positonal flexbility on Alvarez is great. He played water carrier for Messi, now he is the playmaker for Haaland. then add foden to this and you dont need any more players doing much for attack.

Yes but I think they are not really any worse than in their previous games except Australia and China. All other performances were as indifferent as this one just against worse opposition. Need some individual brilliance , maybe from James. Don’t see them pircking Spain apart. Spain are too good to just pass the ball around and milk time
