Nigeria international Olubayo Adefemi has been killed in a car accident at the age of 25.

Adefemi played for Skoda Xanthi in the Greek Super League and had won three international caps for his country.

Adefemi had been driving from Xanthi to Salonika on the Egnatia motorway when he lost control of his car. He was travelling to the airport to catch a flight to Nigeria, where he was due to finalise plans for his wedding.

A statement from the Greek football federation read: "The Super League and the entire Greek football family would like to express its deepest condolences and sympathy for the family of Olubayo Adefemi, who died tragically in a car accident."

Condolences have poured in from teams including Aris, Panionios and Ergotelis for Adefemi, who won a silver medal as part of the Nigerian side that took part in the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Killed while traveling to his own wedding ... can't imagine how crushing it would be for his fiancee.

R.I.P

He played for Rapid Bucharest, in my country. He was a very serious player, I liked him a lot and I remember that I was hoping Dinamo Bucharest (the team that I love and support) will sign him after his loat at Rapid expires.

I am deeply sorry for this man.

Rest In Peace, Adefemi!
