Shut up, Scolari!

Luiz Felipe Scolari has revealed he tried to persuade the Chelsea owner, Roman Abramovich, to sell Didier Drogba because he had found it difficult to control the striker during his troubled spell at the club.

"Big Phil" told a television station in his native Brazil that the Chelsea dressing room was riven by personality clashes and he had problems dealing with several big-name players.

"I didn't leave Chelsea because of sabotage from the players but it is true that it was difficult to control the dressing room," Scolari said.

"Drogba believed he was the star in the squad and I did have conflicts with him. He wanted to go to a hospital in Paris because of an injury but I said no.

"That was my first problem because [Nicolas] Anelka did well in his absence and scored many goals. But when Drogba came back he wanted to go straight back into the team, but I refused.

"I wanted Robinho but it wasn't possible. I also wanted Abramovich to change Drogba for Adriano at Inter because he was easier to control than Drogba."

Scolari, who was coach of Brazil when they won the World Cup in 2002, was sacked by Chelsea in February 2009 just seven months into a three-year contract.

He said Michael Ballack seemed "jealous" of Deco when the Portuguese arrived at the club. "I wanted Deco to work it out with Ballack but it wasn't possible. They didn't speak," Scolari said.

Interesting Stuff.

I can believe some players thinking they should go straight back into the first team even if there not playing well. but Adriano for Drogba... No thanks easier to control , he has had so many personal problems.

Fuck off Scolari.

He wanted the whole Chelsea eleven to be Portuguese speakers, it obviously didn't work. None of our previous managers ever attempted to be as patriotic as fat Scolari did. You have to do the best for the club not what suits you best.

To some extent I understand him. I hate player power, I think only JT should have a right to decide/call on things along with the manager. Other players should just follow orders (of course voice opinion aswell but not boss around) and do their job - which is performing week in week out on the field. No matter what the name is on the shirt, you're not safe, at least that's the way it should be (perhaps with expetion of CBs)

Drogba and Anelka been really poor this term, malaria or not, they've been rubbish for the money they're getting. I expect to see 3 players to go and 3 to come this summer.

I won't pass my judgement on him because I can't possibly know what happens in our dressing room. But there could be at least some little truth here. For example, when Drogba loses the ball while playing he starts getting pissed of shaking his head and then simply waiting for his teammates to win the ball back again. Seeing also players always run to him after they score shows he is a big authority. I'm not saying that's bad, but that simply there could be some truth about was Scolari was talking.

Scolari is a clown, a joke, i agree. But we also made a big mistake by making him trainer/coach. Please think longer next time before putting this clown in front of our squad! Rather have Gene Hackman in his place!

Drogba is a good guy.

Scolari never was a good choice for Chelsea.

I may be scrutinised for this, but I think there's some truth into what Scolari's saying. About player power anyway.

Drogba, on his best day, is the best striker in the world. There's not many who can really argue with this. But on a bad day, he's one of the worst (like TX said, curse & gift). It doesn't surprise me that Drogba was annoyed he couldn't reclaim his place & it wouldn't surprise me if he bitched about it. Fact is, in that season, Anelka finished the golden boot winner. Not just for us, but for the whole league! So for Drogba to demand his first choice status to be restored is quite a dumb decision to make. I'd rather have the in-form striker, scoring the goals, starting. Not the one who's not 100% & unhappy.

One of the things you've got to credit Scolari for is his refusal to play players unless they're 100%. He went on record to say he never did that & his training regimes were noted as difficult but he did it in the interest of increasing the player's careers. He thought long term - not short.

It's easy to criticise him 100% in hindsight. But not everything he did was totally wrong.

Wow!! Scolari just sank to a new low with those words!!

Adriano was at Inter Milan at the time, and was having the worst form of his career if I remember rightly! He was on loan at Sao Paulo and never even got a game for them!

Brazilian managers know fuck all if I'm honest. It's like Pele when he predicts futures for young players and ge gets them completely wrong!
