One of my former students sent me a note today and it made me remember why I put up with the crap I do!

Mrs. Camp,

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and here's why I'm thanking you:

Today was our first day of classes at my college. I am taking Chemistry this semester because it's a gen. ed. course. I really don't have an intention of majoring in chemistry, but it was either chemistry or physics to graduate (and I wasn't doing physics again). We got our first homework set and two of my friends and I decided we were going to work on it together. Two of my friends who took their advanced chem courses in high school thought they were going to be teaching me the homework because I was only in traditional chemistry I told them. Our homework set was a review of what our professor believed we should have learned in high school chemistry.

Long story short, I just got done teaching THEM the chemistry review for 3.5 hours. Their "advanced" classes weren't as rigorous as your traditional classes. Their schools aren't stupid, so I can only accredit my success to one thing: YOU!!! You obviously did a great job teaching us! I didn't think you taught us all that much, but apparently, you did. I don't think a lot of students understand how much their teachers teach them (myself included sometimes) and I think if they could fully comprehend how much they actually learn, they'd thank their teachers more. So, Thank You again and I'll be sure to let you know how I do after the first test!

-Matt

Every teacher (okay maybe just the good ones) need to hear this every once in a while!! :)
