Thought that was the case too till someone told me 2 days ago that it will only be taken into equation once they have played each other home and away, just like what haposano said above. Otherwise, they go by GD first.

Just saw the stat that in the last 7 league games, Real Madrid have picked up 19 points from 21 available while Barcelona only got 11.

And by the way, it's the Madrid derby at the Calderon next weekend. Real and Atletico could go into the game level on points and 3 ahead of Barcelona if the latter beat Osasuna tomorrow.
