LDN Blue 7,903
Chelsea target Ramires has revealed that he sought advice from two former Arsenal players before deciding on a move to the Premier League. Ramires has explained that he spoke with Brazilian compatriots Gilberto Silva and Julio Baptista, who both played for Arsenal, regarding making the transfer to England. The 23-year-old said in The Sun: "Gilberto, Julio Baptista and others gave me confidence by insisting I must accept this chance."In the end the Chelsea proposition was impossible to reject - not just because of the money but the chance to spend every day at one of the best clubs in the world."As a boy in Brazil I watched the Premier League and I remember how Chelsea and Manchester United played such attractive football."This summer has been a dream - the Portuguese title with Benfica, the call of Brazil, the World Cup and now the jump into the Premier League."|| SkySports ||
chrismada9 1,948
Jesus! I hate to be somewhat impatient, but I can't believe they're delaying the completion of this deal! Surely it's gotta be sorted and signed now!!
EskWeston 696
Well i guess my prediction was off then!!! Lets hope it is the work permit issue that is holding it up and nothing else.....

Randall 315
Apparently over on CFCnet someone is saying there's a problem with the medical which is what is holding this deal up.
We Hate Scouse 10,326
I'll have a word with my mate over at the training ground and see if he has been in for a medical yet. I don't think he has mind, otherwise he would have said.
We Hate Scouse 10,326
Just been told that he hasn't been to Cobham yet, so the likely hood of him failing his medical is very low unless he is having it elsewhere.

BlueLion. 21,491
It’s understood that the primary hold up on the deal was the amount due to the third party owners of Ramires, namely Kia Joorabchian, who helped deliver Ramires to Benfica in the first place. With strict Premiership rules on third party ownership, it was essential that this side of the deal was in order with Chelsea owning 100% of the players’ contract. The deal is still subject to a medical and conditional on Ramires being granted a work permit, which is far from guaranteed as he as yet doesn’t meet the minimum requirements, so an appeal may well be necessary which could delay the deal further.http://thechels.net/2010/08/in-the-news-one-in-one-out/

Rubber bullets 1,183
I just hope the work permit is not a problem. when we signed Alex we had to loan him out for three years before he finally got his work permit.

Randall 315
I think if you pay a lot of money for someone it counts as extenuating circumstances so you can get a conditional work permit.

Randall 315
Because he'd have to do a medical before signing a contract anyway. Also if you appeal and say that the player can bring something to the english game and league it'll often get overturned, and ramires would obviously qualify in that category I imagine.
