United put off by Sneijder wages

Manchester United have been put off making an official bid for Inter Milan's Wesley Sneijder because of his wage demands.

On Tuesday, Inter director Marco Branca stated that Sneijder "is not for sale", amid rumours that United and Chelsea are keen to bring him to the Premier League for around £35 million.

However, it was claimed the Red Devils upped the ante in their pursuit of the Netherlands international by sending a delegation, led by chief executive David Gill, to Milan. In fact, Gill flew to Zurich for a European Club Association meeting and a source told ESPNsoccernet that the club's interest in the player has cooled.

''David Gill has not rushed out to Milan to sign the player, as it has been suggested - he went to Zurich,'' the source said. ''I don't think Manchester United will go through with any deal for Sneijder, when you examine the finances involved, in particular the player's wages."

Sneijder, 27, joined Inter from Real Madrid in 2009 and helped the club win a memorable Serie A, Coppa Italia and Champions League treble in 2010 and commands a weekly wage of £190,000-a-week that United seem unprepared to match.

Would it be wise to put in a bid for him now, since we seem to be more prepared to offer bigger wages than United??

Our current wage bill is high as it is...so its a no-go unless we offload someone...

Considering United's pursuit has been greater, I'd say they'd be in a pole position if we tried to enter.

Yeah but Chelsea can get in like City can get in the Modric deal.

He still a good player.

Modric is very hard to get cause Spurs don't want to sell.

Why?

crazy salary demand and very fragile player who will miss plenty of games.

?

You serious?

I thought he play the whole season for Mourinho and the WC. That's a lot.

I don't think he can be bad as injuries goes then Yury and Robben.

he has missed a lot of games over the past three years, he is not Robben like but more similar to RVP.

In 2009-2010 for the treble,..he was fit for barely half the season..Fortunately (for Inter) this was during the season run-in
