Fulham Broadway 17,315
So Shitter are sayin 1 year contract -makes senseThis is just to get us through to next year when they'll hand over huge sums of cash to get Pep in...After a year, he'll be found out as either not being good enough to suit English football or not allowed to make the changes necessary and we'll be back looking for the next Pep..All so predictable... Tomo 21,751
Nail on head, not quite sure what the fascination about guardiola is all about, rijkaard had barcelona playing some pretty good stuff up till he left and guardiola tweaked what was there and has the the good fortune to manage arguably the greatest club side in history with arguably the greatest/going to be greatest player that played so id prefer to stick with one of our own and who we know works and thats robbie. While i dont want Pep here this myth going around that he was an lucky passenger on the Barca steam train does my head in.When he walked in he kicked out Ronaldinho and Deco (a bold move few would have had the balls to do) and it free'd up the rest of the side from the 2 chief troublemakers.Iniesta, Xavi and Messi were obvious talent's but not the world beaters they are today, Pep's (again bold) decision to build his team around those 3 has paid off handsomely. His (again bold) move to let Messi play in the Olympics and miss the CL qualifayers payed off handsomely and instantly won Messi's respect. Also did you see the mess they were in when Pep took over? 3rd in the league with 64 points and TEN points behind Villareal not to mention 20 behind Champions Real.Pep has been more important than anyone to Barca over these last few years, including Messi and Tito is under huge pressure to keep up the same level of success. Bosnian Blue 2,471
BBC says it could be like this:'It is now thought the most likely scenario will see both parties agree to a longer contract with a clause that would allow either to break it after 12 months.Pleasantly surprised by our board so far. Superblue 6,372
Firstly he deserves a chance. The whole club would look ungrateful brats if we were to let him go having finally won us the big one.But secondly, something I have made a point of a few times is that when a player or manager represents 'their' club they are always willing to go that extra mile and find that extra 10% to get a result. Barcelona is Guardiola's club, and it would be interesting to see how he adapts to managing a club which isn't Barcelona - I would be worried to take that risk with it being us.Chelsea is Di Matteo's club. It's where he served the best years of his career, won trophies, and already had massive report with the fans before his success as manager. Coupled with Eddie Newton alongside him, they are prepared to go that extra mile for the club. He may be our answer to Guardiola, and I hope he gets a proper chance to do just that.
