gary gordon 1,777
According to Sky Sports...Knee setback for Essien Chelsea midfielder injured while training for GhanaMichael Essien has been taken to hospital in Angola after picking up a knee injury. The Chelsea midfielder did the damage while training for Ghana's African Cup of Nations clash with Burkina Faso on Tuesday. The 27-year-old had already been struggling with the hamstring problem which prevented him from starting Friday's 3-1 defeat by Ivory Coast, but officials confirmed this was a fresh setback.Ghana coach Milovan Rajevac said: "I don't know the extent of the injury but we will find out later."Essien will now be a major doubt for Tuesday's game, which Ghana must win if they are to stand any chance of progressing into the latter stages. Ivory Coast have already qualified from Group B, with four points from two games, while Burkina Faso have one point and Ghana none
Aesthetic Relic 301
If he was struggling with a hamstring injury then WTF were Ghana doing even playing him in the first place ?Playing a player who's nowhere near fit is asking for trouble. BlueLion. 21,491
I hope to God Ghana lose to Burkina Faso so we can get him back to Cobham, where his injury can be assessed by our medical department.

Steve 10,227
Please let them lose. We need him back to our medical staff. Not in a public hospital where they most likely do not have the right equipment to deal with this if it is anything major.

BlueLion. 21,491
Depends on the severity of the tear. If its torn in two, it'll be 3 months if we're lucky. If its only a partial tear, we could see him back in 6-8 weeks hopefully.Breaking news - He's being flown back to Cobham for treatment.
