Daniele de Rossi

Italians are never understandable. You look at Cannavaro (Fabio) and get your best example. He loved Juventus. And winning everything made him even more certain in that. Then Calciopolli came and he preffered to dump the sinking ship, rather than to become a legend. But De Rossi's a different matter. I think that he is the kind of player that loves to play for the team that has been his home for a long time. If it was for trophies and salary he would have left last year, when City paid 30 milion for him. Now I don't see it happening. Maybe it could be, if he decided to stay, because of the signings Roma made(Pjanic, Lamela, Marquinos) and he thought it could be a new era.

Roma refuse to rule out Daniele De Rossi sale

Roma president James Pallotta has reiterated the club's stance on midfield star Daniele De Rossi, admitting that 'everyone' is on the market.

The American president of the club spoke to RAI television and refused to rule out a summer move for Italian star De Rossi, who has long been linked with a move to England.

"De Rossi? We'll see. Everybody is on the market, just as they are for the Boston Celtics," said Pallotta.

I don't think acquiring his services is that impossible. It's more like we are not that interested in that deal apparently as the rumours were never that strong. Yeah he is becoming a legendary figure in his club as he has spent his entire career with them bla bla bla, but then again he has never won a single important trophy and that + the salary increase could be the incentive to make him move.

He's won a few Italian cups with Roma and a World cup with Italy. He would obviously want more trophies as would any top player.

Totti staying loyal to his home city instead of going to a bigger club is now considered useless? I would assume Gerrard is useless as well?

He may be a cunt of the highest order, but he's still a Roma and Italian legend.

He has won Coppa Italia twice, yeah. Maybe I should've said that he's never won any meaningful trophy on club level.

I recently read an interview with Totti and he was explaining how much he regrets not moving to Madrid in the early 2000s when he had a chance. I've never really rated him, but still fair play to him I guess (and Gerrard as well) that he decided to stick with the club he loves instead of going to one of the big ones. However I think he'd have been rated higher by everybody, had he joined Madrid's dream team in 2002 and even he realises it.

He also declared he would of won a couple European titles and Balon D'ors

Another newspaper rumor:

According to reports exclusively by Calciomercato.it in England, in fact, the 'Blues' would be ready to make an offer of around € 10 million to secure the performance of the midfielder, although probably the Roma will ask for a higher figure to close the negotiation. We await developments.
