You answered you own question, how is it we have replaced the manager and haven’t improved, because the players have got worse? Poch probably had a better squad than maresca?? And the point about Man Utd is their players are shit and so are ours so you can change a manager until the cows come home but like you say “no key players” incoming is what makes the team improve, you can’t use that excuse for Man Utd and not for us, last key player we signed was palmer, and that was pot luck, pep took over city and changed them completely into a title winning machine, but took top players to do it and same with klopp, simply changing a manager to manage the same shit players will always end with the same results 

potter lampard poch maresca, 4 managers no improvement, no top manager is going to come here with a squad full of infants that don’t have the mentality or the talent to push for titles like top managers want. And if a top manager did come in we would have to rebuild half the team again

This has potential to be a painful night. Feel less sick seeing Jorg in goal vs this lot just because they're so much less dangerous, maybe it is the rare game where his skill with his feet makes it worth playing a guy that can't make saves even at the standard of a championship goalkeeper

The best thing about the game is that Southampton are terrible so even at our worst like this XI we might be able to do something

Maresca is the most uninspiring manager we’ve ever had. Then again, this is probably the team he’s been told to put out - no original thought or idea about the geezer.

Tbh, although Nkunku has been poor recently, I think this is the game he needs to regain confidence. He got a goal and assist in the reverse fixture and hopefully this game he can put in a good performance and maybe a get a goal or two.

Remember the days when we had talent both on the pitch and on the bench...when we could change a sub and they'd have a impact because they had talent!

I can see the argument to keep trying with Nkunku, if he finds form and we get anything resembling the player we spent all that money on, it might save the season. And there's really no one beating down the door behind him to take that spot instead. And he basically can't damage his resale value any further than he already has.

He is also a natural / instinctive finisher if we find him in the box in space, something you can't say for our other players.
