Welcome Mauricio Pochettino

Terzic contract at Dortmund runs out next year. Is there any possibility there and what do you think of him? He coaches players who can fit perfectly in our team. Kobel is a great GK, Maatsen can probably come back, Sancho can replace Sterling perfectly and most of all I like Fullkrug. He is like Giroud 2.0. Not that this is a direction the club is going in, but a manager who doesn’t depress me as an option nevertheless.

De Zerbi would be interesting.

I think a lot of the shit Brighton dealt with this season was due to injuries as well.

At the same time you want a manager who is tactically astute enough to be able to lose players and not miss too much of a beat. I guess that is easier at Liverpool and Man City with their type of teams, as opposed to Brighton who doesn't have the talent.

For the first time, I'm stumped as to what is the right answer. I would have liked another season under Poch for continuity and it seems the players liked him a lot.

Considering what we've been getting lately, yeah he is. 😆 De Zerbi just like Potter had no "time" at Bayern. It'd be a dream job for either one.

This idea that a manager will come and make players become what they are not is really bizarre to me. It works at lower tier sides, but not at this level in a level playing field. It's really more about the players. The manager either adapts to the players he's got, or he goes to the market and signs what he wants, but it's still the players executing on the pitch.
The right tactics can get you there, being competitive, but in the end it's always the top players making the difference, which is why they are so expensive.
Also, Brighton was absolutely dreadful this season.... another few rounds and they would end fighting relegation.

You are being nice here. Brighton, for me, was one of the worst sides in the PL this season. I "made" myself watch their games to see what the was fuzz about and saw absolutely awful football played.

I liked De Zerbi’s Brighton. They tailed off badly after injuries and had to deal with a European run

but he showed he can get a team to control games

What I don't understand is how from beginning they were speaking about long term plan and patience but when we finally saw improvements from both Potter and Poch they were sacked. Doesn't make any sense...

Poch wasn't sacked. He left.

Clownlake couldn't afford to sack another manager so soon.

Not shocked one bit, it's what these owners do now.

We have short memories some of us, calling for his head in January and  being raped by Arsenal etc. I get the great run of results  but this word stability is either trendy or means nothing, in this case and this club it means nothing.

It won't be McKenna, I say this as he will want a crack of Ipswich in the PL and jumping from stable to the must unstable thing won't happen. It's either Amorim or De Zerbi

De Zerbi to me feels like the safest option available. Obviously, we'd have to sell Sanchez immediately if he comes, but hey ho. He ticks so many boxes of what the owners want. The question of course is why the fuck did he and Bloom fall out so bad that they've parted ways even though most of the players are loyal to De Zerbi to the point they might walk en masse now? De Zerbi seems like the type that will speak out, and also challenge for more say in transfers. So on that front it might be Poch 2.0 but isn't every manager who is a "winner" that is passionate first and foremost about winning trophies going to complain about a strategy that involves not winning much of anything for years?

According to news reports football.london and X, unnamed club paid £4.3m compensation to Brighton to appoint De Zerbi, realistically it would be us or Milan.

McKenna's value is high right now after back-to-back promotion. Ipswich's squad have many loan players and many ex-League one players, it's likely they will struggle in the PL like Sheffield, Burnley or Luton this year. Kompany was also praised after last season, but his squad was just not good enough to play the same football in the Premier League. McKenna might consider that and take an offer from a bigger club(not necesseraly us).

One reason many managers get sacked at this time of the year is they ask for reinforcements.
None is forthcoming, they don't like it and they get sacked or sack themselves.
Could it be one of those ?

Least get top youngsters..

Clueless. Both deserved to be sacked long ago never mind now. Running the club into mediocrity. This isn’t Monaco or Southampton, this is Chelsea FC.

Said it last season and this summer last, a few more senior players in and around the squad in key positions would have made a huge difference.

I actually reckon with at least 4 more proven players who are good examples as senior pros in the squad we could have maybe snuck CL football. Definitely would’ve handled the ET in the cup final better too. Experience is huge. The first time round with the transfer ban the likes of James, Mount, Abraham and Tomori were all involved a lot - what did we have then? Good senior pros. Likes of Jorginho, Azpilicueta, Willian, Kante, Pedro. Squads like ours - with a huge percentage of younger players who would be lucky to have between 100-150 games each - 100% need that, unless we want to yoyo and become an expensive RB Leipzig/Monaco/Southampton. Or whomever.

The Tuchel team of September 2022 was sick.
Some European successes in 2022-23 with Tuchel and Potter don't count because they were lower level teams (except Real Madrid who smacked us).
Recovery takes some time, especially when we are no longer into big power transfers (the likes of Mbappe for example).
This fellow George Benson in the video above seems to share my suspicion that Poch was sacked because he demanded reinforcements.
He also suggests the clownlakies are out to sell Gallagher and Challobar.

As I said in an earlier post — even more important than what we think is what the squad think. And those that have come out with an opinion are all sorry to see Poch go !!!

I feel even worse about it this morning than I did last night. I may be wrong but I’m sure this wasn’t mutual and if all the Board had come out publicly backing Poch I’m sure he would still be here.

6th place, one cup final, one semi and European football next season. How can that be classed as failure in your first season ? Plus many players have shown big improvement during the season - Cole,Conor,Jackson,Madueke,Chalobah and some of that must be a reflection on the coach and his team.

Plus he wasn’t responsible for signing the under-achievers in the squad — the Board and Sporting Directors did

We have made some crazy decisions in the last few years but this is definitely the craziest

A very sad day in the proud history of Chelsea FC
