Jase 43,479
I don't know but Pellegrini just seem too nice of a manager for me. Doesn't seem to have that ruthless nature/streak about him to really change things or make decisive changes etc.
OneMoSalah 8,886
Cheap? so?We need to but every thing that cheap?...Not that it matters, that would be an advantage over approaching Madrid for Jose. Pellegrini would also be on lower salary freeing up more money to spend on other things. I probably should have worded that better and said hes not as good an option as Jose in terms of managerial class as well.

We need someone with strong character, doesn't matter how much he will cost, especially if it's Jose.
Bosnian Blue 2,471
Pellegrini took the Real Madrid job and finished with more points than any English Clubs ever managed in the Premier League, he just happened to be there at the same time one of the best teams ever were approaching their peak of their powers.Totally uncomparable two competitions. Still won fuck all.Just had somebody suggested to me on Twitter that Pellegrini is a yes man. Would allow the board to control him just like it did at Madrid...Fits the bill then. Leif 6,006
Del Bosque, Benitez (ew), Guardiola, Hiddink (maybe), Marcello Lippi, Prandelli, probably plenty more - all seem to have quiet and rather 'soft' personalities like Pellegrini, but they've all done rather well haven't they? It's not like we have difficult characters in our team and most of the old guard will be gone.
The only place to be 11,313
Pellegrini is a great choice for manager. Ignore for a moment that he's won fuck all despite being five years away from retirement age.- He's cheap- He'll be cheap to sack- He's exactly the type of manager we hired in 2008, and we were good then weren't we?- We get to keep this thread open for another 12 months- He's cheap- He's got a foreign sounding name but he speaks English- He'll open up the lucrative Chilean market- We all say we like change and we want to see Chelsea change, but really isn't this more exciting? Who saw this year coming for example? We all got our hopes up for Guardiola, and then for Mourinho and ended up with Benitez and South American Redknapp, but isn't the unpredictability more fun than things like 'trophies' and 'enjoying watching your team'. Sheva. 5,373
Some people want Moyes despite the fact he's in charge of a boring hoof ball team and has won nothing in 10 years. Not to mention no European experience whatsoever, and no idea of what it's like to manage at a big club. If Mourinho can't be signed for whatever reason, i don't see many better options (be realistic) than Pellegrini.
Leif 6,006
Maybe Benitez doesn't actually need to leave...? Mou could still come in though; hear me out:As we know, Mourinho is wanted 'home' by most of us. He plays attractive football with steel, flair, and solid foundations. He often has a key player (Drogba, Sneijder, Ronaldo) and his next key player could be Hazard. We already know he can do the business here, so bring him in.Benitez isn't all bad though. Once I heard our players were eating fry-ups before most games I was rather shocked. I thought pro athletes would be getting a bit better nutrition! As the FSW, I'm sure Benitez specialises in rice, pasta & seafood dishes; all of which would give our players a good physical boost with a mix of carbs (rice, pasta) & protein with healthy fats in the seafood. So with Mourinho appointed manager, perhaps Benitez could become Head Chef or Chief of Nutrition? Worth some thought.

Strike 7,492
I don't know but Pellegrini just seem too nice of a manager for me. Doesn't seem to have that ruthless nature/streak about him to really change things or make decisive changes etc.Pellegrini is near the top of the list because of lack of choice. But that doesn't take away his achievements or that he is a good footballing 'coach'.Klopp won't leave Dortmund. Loew won't leave Germany till 2014 WC. Hiddink's retiring. There are reports that Frank de Boer will be offered a new dealIt's realistically down to the likes of Pellegrini, Moyes, Capello, Roberto Martinez if Jose deal doesn't happenedit: in reference to "too nice of a manager" , There are examples on the contrary you know? Pellegrini dropped Riquelme - probably Villarreal's greatest ever player, and eventually transferred him out of the club. At Real, he dropped Raul. Both were quite decisive actions

bushman 2,043
Recently, more & more I read about the old man Pellegrini. Those rumors, Chelsea have opened talks with his representatives are reported by several UK papers. At 59 year old, is he not too old for these young high paid footballers ?I know, he has coached REAL, Villareal...but....?As we all know, financial problems at Malaga has led to a club ban from Europe next season. What are Chelsea getting here, a gold digger ?
