Fernando 6,585
I liked tuchel and I was sad when he left but I always said that he was bad for transfer and with his input in transfer I would not feel comfortable in the purchases. This summer bust is another proof on top of lukaku. Hence why in the long term it was better to sack tuchel and change the vision. After sacking tuchel I think our transfer was a bit better. Personally I think its more on Boehly trying to make a splash in the first window, I just have this feeling he seen City wanted him (similarly to Arsenal with Mudryk) and just felt he had to triumph them to stop them getting him first and foremost. Although we did need back up in the position with Chilwells injury. But mainly re City wanting him & Boehly wanting to make an impression and be competitive, I think this is why we had no issues to splurge the fee they wanted without hesitation where as City did. Or perhaps City had more reservations about the player? Whilst they also were/are statement buys - people probably thought not often Chelsea beat City & Pep to their top target in recent years or a team at the top of the league to theirs (Arsenal & Mudryk). So theres that element too. Without considering the players qualities as I don’t think any would of considered the pair of them elite players. I do think Tuchel liked the player though, but I am more convinced this is one of the lessons Boehly and the club have reportedly “already learned” from this summer. Or I’d hope so. Bumtrubbler 6
have a look back at all our recent defeats. find me 1 that doesn't involve countless attacks down our left side... he's a tool & not good enough for Chelsea. out to fk! Still can't believe we actually paid 50+ million for an average player like Cucurella. No wonder why Manchester City pulled out of the negotiations, they knew that he wasn't worth more than 30 million.

Fernando 6,585
Mistake for the first goal. Really he has not been that good. The summer transfers are among the worst. Reminds me of a time with conte that we bought nothing but crap one summer. laura90, Johnnyeye and Reddish-Blue 2

Vesper 30,195
I want to state on here that I have ZERO ill will or personal dislike for CuCu he just was a shit buy and, exactly like his manager Potter, is in over his head at a club that is too big for him I have no ill will or personal dislike for Potter either unlike CuCu I actually was happy when we signed Potter, as I thought he could adapt the same way he had always adapted as he moved up the food chain in HUGE fashion, from lower tier Swedish football all the way up to the EPL with Brighton but, like I was long ago about Bakayoko I was wrong ☹️ manpe and DH1988 1
Mhsc 1,097
If FFP permits we should sell him in summer, probably can still get £20m for him, although wages may be tricky. Honestly would rather still have Emerson, who at least was a hard worker and willing runner.

We are stuck with him like with so many other dregs. That was one of the bigges gripes I had with the former regime and it seems like it carried over. Offering no-name players from samll clubs such a huge salary increase. usually they would be happy to make the move regardless, even for half that money. Same thing we did with kepa. For established stars,ok I get it, if we really want them that is what you have to pay but it seems we do not really even engage in wage negotiations. We can just hope with Chilwell back he can teach him a thing or two... As soon as Chilly is back to full match fitness there should be no argument who is no.1 left back. Not sure what went wrong for Cucurella after his first 2 great performances.... probably what we saw back then was just a purple patch and his form since then is his regular level. Fofana is probably perma-wrecked but even if his pace is gone, he has always had decent defensive insticts so might still become a half-decent squad player. He too is apparently on absured 200k wages which is just mind boggling cos he as well could have been gotten on half that probably. you just don't arrive at wages with this even numbers on a negotiation basis. We just offered him 200kpw straight away and his agent snapped our hand off and ran. Absolute noob level negotation tactics. Anyway, he is unmovable as well now so our only hope is that he becomes a reasonably useful back up at some point. Sterling might still become good, he looks like having a positive impact on the team and is a reliable poster boy for the club at least off the pitch. Can't really argue with the reasoning behind buying him tbh. Was usually impressed with his early years at City and did not notice him having regressed that much last season. Beforehand, I always perceived him as a menace when we played against him. Still jsut about young enough to bounce back and with Pep's rotation he has not that much mileage in his legs that you would think he is dusted already. K2 and Auba, well the less said about those two useless donkeys the better. Edited February 11, 2023 by Magic Lamps
