Does feel a bit odd how long we’ve gone in “advanced” negotiations without actually completing these deals. Hato seems nailed on at this point judging by what Fabrizio said last night but something feels off with Simons.

I don’t feel confident at all right now that we’ll get Simons done. I suspect what’s taking so long is that both sides are digging their heels in deeply at their hardline valuations and neither are budging. So I can see us walking away and just getting fucking Garnacho.

The slowness for me is down to the multitude of things happening all at once. We have two blokes trying to get signings over the line and also bodies out of the door and quite a few at that. I'm not worried by it, just takes time and the fact Romano is saying here we go soon on Hato means finer details to be sorted, and on Simons that will get done

Yeah, this sounds plausible and I hope it’s the case.

But I’m almost getting Maignan vibes from the Simons deal. The club were given the impression by someone that a deal could be done for a low price, we bid said amount with genuine desire from the player to move, but then the selling club say nope, we want much more.

Ben Jacobs is really good, he speaks really well and I enjoy listening to him on radio shows and podcasts

If we don't count a few exceptions, he just tweets what other journalists have already said.

I wouldn't sell Enzo unless we receive a 150m+ bid.

Yes, it would have to be a sizeable offer although, in a negotiation, I might blink before we get to £150m. My parameter would be the cost of the left winger we aim to bring in + the cost of Rogers. That said, if Rogers was interested in forcing a move away from Villa rumours about that might have started circulating by now. If they are out there I haven't come across them so hopes of getting him this summer look unrealistic.

i mean, fabrizio writes the same tweet 10 times in 4 days. that is by far worse and more annoying than what jacobs does for example

yes but in terms of exclusive storys, ben jacobs is behind all the most important journalist as fabrizio or orstein

The reason Ornstein is the best is that he isn’t in this business to be a “brand.” He never tries to make himself the story or tries to steadily build hype by tweeting a play by play of every deal. I like and respect Fabrizio but him tweeting 15 times about the Simons deal for example basically saying the same thing gets tedious.

Certain deals it just ain't worth haggling over a couple of mill over and running the risk.Maignan was one,Hato is another.

AM types are in by far the biggest talent pool in football so fair enough with them, there's always plenty of alternatives but there simply isn't with Hato.

Speaking of Ornstein btw, we never have had a tweet from him about Simons like all of the other reporters. But he has tweeted about the Hato deal. Also haven’t heard anything from Plettenberg who was the first on the Simons story in a while either.

Like I said earlier, it feels a bit fishy around that deal. Like the reporters may have jumped the gun saying how advanced or close any deal is.
