Delap only becomes possible if Ipswich get relegated - not sure they will. He is either their best or second best player and staying in the league is worth £100m+ per year. Can't see them selling until he had two years left.

As for CF, I am happy with Jackson. Guy keeps in improving and has shown good attitude when everyone got on his back - the pen thing last season was more on Poch not making it clear who the pen taker was.

For me, CB and GK is what we need to solve. In fact, I would even limit that to GK. Sanchez is an absolute joker, who doesn't do either thing we need him to - play passes or save shots - and no, I am not taking a good save here and there whilst he let's in goals at his near post (Arse), falls over like a spastic at Anfield for their second and runs out like a crack head chasing down his dealer against Brighton at home. If Jorgensen is honestly worse than him then the guys scouting need to be sacked asap and we need to bring Petro back in Jan or play some kid from the youth team. Maybe the kid will be worse but at least we can say is is young and not some 27 year old that analytic team is expecting to Pokemon evolve at any sudden moment.

I've read that Delap has got a £20 million buy back clause with City. If so, offer Ipswich the chance to double their money with a £40 million bid.

If I remember correctly, we did something similar with Kante. He had a release clause for Champions League clubs, Chelsea offered more than that release (they didn't qualify for the Champions League that year), to stop him going to elsewhere and to ensure that Leicester were motivated to sell.

I agree with CB and GK but I for one am not happy with Jackson being our only recognizable ST. Especially with Champions League football next season.

Fact of the matter is I doubt we will be in for Gyorkeres, let alone if the player even wants to join us given our wage structure. Delap for £30-40m for me seems like a no brainer. Possess a lot of good qualities and has attributes that make him a more potent box threat than Jackson.

Funny enough if we go back 2-3 years the same people who are saying no to Delap would 100% be the same people who would say no to Gyorkeres. If there's any area where I trust our directors judgement its at ST. Winstanley was the one who wanted to bring Gyorkeres to Brighton from Coventry.

Yes the directors are doing good with strikers and target they want. Even in the mid and wingers.

But they need to get ASAP a good director with defense. As well with set piece like Arsenal did and now they are good at this.

IIRC, we paid Leicester like 30 million for Drinkwater even though he had no business moving to Chelsea as compensation for Kante's low transfer fee.
Kante was definitely leaving in that window and one of the transfer reporters confirmed with Leicester that we jumped in before Arsenal could negotiate the transfer.

Unless it's a striker outputting crazy numbers like Gyokeres, I wouldn't be happy to see us spend such a large amount on an unproven player.

Even the player you mentioned was an unproven striker at Coventry but fast forward 2-3 years and he's leading the line in Portugal, playing for national team and scoring for fun.

I wouldn't be surprised if Delap is putting up solid numbers in a few seasons time, you can see the raw talent he has, had multiple opportunities to wreck United on the break in the last PL game.

Focus should definitely be on a reliable GK first (in the mould of Cech, Courtois), then worry about Striker.

🗣️ Graeme Bailey: “Guehi is someone Chelsea like, he’s high up on the list. He’ll have a year left on his deal next summer.

He’s one to keep an eye on for sure, we know Chelsea like him, and Chelsea do want to upgrade the options behind Fofana and Colwill.”🗯

🗣 Graeme Bailey on Dewsbury-Hall: "Maresca knew about him and knew he was a quality player. It was a very strange deal. I don’t think he’s going to be at Chelsea at the start of next season. It is what it is."🗯

I'd like that. Given Maresca's system really depends on having 3 CBs on the ball, we need 5 in the team next season.

- Sell Badiashile & Disasi.

- Bring in Guehi and Araújo.

Colwill, Guehi, Fofana, Tosin, Araújo

(I do not think Guehi is worth the £70-80m or so Palace will demand from us)

these are the only 2 remotely (emphasis on remotely) non-injured CBs out there I would drop that kind of cash on

Ronald Araujo (crazy hard pull)
Alessandro Bastoni (crazy hard pull)

that leaves

in order of valuation:

Murillo
Ousmane Diomande
Piero Hincapié
António Silva (very expensive though and has not truly kicked on)
Castello Lukeba (very expensive though)

Gonçalo Inácio
Dávid Hancko
Cristhian Mosquera
Jonathan Tah (steal if we could get him on a free in the summer or for cheap in January)
Yarek Gasiorowski
Martin Vitík
Tomás Araújo

I'm a big fan of Murillo. The only worry I have is if he is really good with the ball at his feet?

I like him because of his strength and PL acclimatize. But compare to the others how good will he be in a team that wants to hold the ball more?

I like Hincapie but he is rash at times. Get's a lot of red cards, more then any other player there I think.

One of Murillo's main strengths is his ball-playing ability

No chance Palace demand that with him being on his final year

more info on Guehi (good for us, but no idea why we structured hsi sell-on fee to EXCLUDE us trying to buy him back)

According to The Daily Mail, Guehi's transfer from Chelsea to Crystal Palace in 2021 saw the Blues retain both a sell-on clause and buy-back clause for the England star. Any permanent transfer from Crystal Palace would see Chelsea pocket 20% of the transfer fee unless they themselves are moving for the player, and the Blues would also have the opportunity to match any incoming offer.

Sell-on clauses in particular can complicate transfers, as the selling club doesn't collect the entire fee and might increase the asking price to make up for the deficit.
