Romano is saying they simply haven't decided who to go for yet

Don’t think there’s any chance that the club doesn’t know who they want yet. It’s surely that they don’t want a super public back and forth that would get other clubs in a bidding war or complicate negotiations. There’s no way with mere days to go in the window that we’re scrambling around in desperation behind the scenes.

the new Caicedo

Those are the type of buys we should have made instead of 100 million on a player.

Well anyways Caicedo and Enzo where my dream pair so can't complain much.

But in the future let this be the last and let's continue to focus on buying players like that.

Well, we bought Ugochukwu (and Santos)

Romano wont actually know that though. IMO he is a mouth piece for agents who use him to shop around their players and ultimately to make money. There is no way PW, LS etc or people in their team are giving him info - then he would know WAY more. Whenever he isn't saying something quite concrete, it is just noise to get views that is likely to not turn out to be totally wrong or disprovable later. Hence, he does loads of posts saying kind of nothing, and then when an agent feeds him something more concrete he publishes that and ties it into whatever generic narrative he's been selling previously.

I would like to believe we have a plan and are working on a concrete deal, BUT I think the one more attacking player talk started when we lost Chuku to injury and Olise deal collapsed. To our disappointment I think the board lack an unanimous decision who to go for and are on the brink of entering deadline day in panic mode. Hope I'm wrong.

LIVE Transfer Talk: Chelsea eye Raphinha-Torres double deal

https://www.espn.co.uk/football/story/_/id/38279479/transfer-talk-Chelsea-eye-raphinha-torres-double-dea

TOP STORY: Chelsea tracking Barca duo

Chelsea are considering an approach for Barcelona stars Raphinha and Ferran Torres, according to the Daily Mail.

Blues boss Mauricio Pochettino remains on the lookout for potential options that could strengthen his attack before the transfer deadline on Friday and appears set to open talks with the reigning LaLiga champions over a deal for the duo.

Torres, 23, has scored in consecutive games to open Barca's season, but both his appearances have come from the bench with Poland international Robert Lewandowski preferred ahead of him. Raphinha didn't feature in Barca's 4-3 victory over Villarreal on Sunday, and the Stamford Bridge hierarchy are said to be engaged in talks over whether to make a move for the former Leeds United flyer.

Recent reports have indicated that Barcelona would need to offload a player if they are to acquire Atletico Madrid's João Félix, while they are also looking to complete a transfer for Manchester City full-back João Cancelo.

Chelsea are also busy in terms of outgoings amid discussions with Bayern Munich over a deal for 24-year-old defender Trevoh Chalobah. Sky Sports Deutschland's Florian Plettenberg reports that manager Thomas Tuchel -- who used to coach Chalobah at Chelsea -- is keen to land the 24-year-old, though there is some disagreement among members on the Bundesliga champions' transfer committee.

Chalobah is yet to make an appearance in the Premier League this season and has previously been linked with a move to Inter Milan.

he would instantly be their 3rd best winger, IMHO, and with Dembele's injury record, plus Mbappe soon gone next summer his has a huge opportunity to be a key player

Depends. Can’t see this summer to PSG being a good move for him at all. I mean Lee is there also and Asensio, throw in Mbappe and Dembele nailed on starters too with Ramos an option centrally. Looks very congested and daft for him to go to Paris. But think Campos behind the move

Listening to a Poch just now, it sounds pretty much 50/50 whether we even do sign an attacker before the deadline. He wants one, the club are working hard behind the scenes, but they might come back and say the right player is not available. He says he’d be happy even if we don’t make another signing. Which says to me that that’s a real possibilty.

If those are the options than just bloody stick with Maatsen.

Going to have an inflated squad again.

It is definitely possible we wont sign anyone imo.

I think part of the reason we've been a bit slow on some of the moves and are still looking at it now is that we have a few cooks in the kitchen (at very least PW, LS and Poch but maybe Joe Shields as well) and all of them have to agree to every transfer which means that a lot of players we might otherwise have gone for could be turned away by 1 guy who's not convinced. No doubt some but not all like Vlahovic, Cherki, etc so we ended up not going for them.

I agree with us being patient and waiting for the right opportunities - 100% more NJ like opportunities will emerge every window, they always do, new players / value opportunities are coming through all the time so taking our time with the absolutely insanely talented scouting group we've got you just know as the years go on with them working together the squad is going to become insane.

BUT it scares me that Broja is our plan B for NJ if he is out atm. I believe the forward player they're talking about who can play across the frontline is more of a Rashford profile than a Cherki, and someone like that would make me feel pretty relaxed about the season and our top 4/5 chances.

2 are overrated IMHO:

Lee, 23yo in a few months so not a super young youth player, had only 9 league goals in 6,000 league minutes, only 10 goals total in all comps, in around 7,000 minutes with Valencia, I never truly rated him at all, was very surprised PSG bought him (and Asensio), as they usually buy players I lust after (Mbappe, Hakimi, Marquinhos, Nuno Mendes, Donnarumma, Skriniar, Dembélé, Verratti, Carlos Soler, Vitinha, Nordi Mukiele (he would be great cover for us whilst Reece is out, if Malo cannot go), and (he is not working out atm, despite a really good first season) Hugo Ekitiké

Asensio (28yo in several months, so only one more full sub 30yo season after this one) may restart his very much stalled career, but I would take Barcola (20yo, soon 21) over him all day, all night, for us

Mbappe is gone in 10 months and (as some like to point out, rightly so) Dembélé is oft-injured

We want someone that can play wing and at CAM. Think given our squad and with the injured players coming back we are better off waiting until next summer.

What is the price talk tho?
can’t see them entertaining bids under 50m tbh. Young, English, HG, over 100gs experience, can play everywhere in midfield and attack plus has 3 years left in his contract. He basically is their mount but with a higher ceiling and we sold mase with 1y left for a hefty fee.

In what world is ESR 'ceiling' higher than Mount's?

Mount is only one year older than him and has more than double the amount of goal contributions for Chelsea (33G+37A) than ESR does for Arsenal (18G+11A) in roughly the double amount of games/minutes. Mount has also made an actual difference in the UCL and has been a regular part of the England setup since he was 20 while ESR at 23 is still just all fart no poo. Up until now the only season where ESR was a regular starter for Arsenal was when they were still shite as a team.

Smith-Rowe has also just missed a full year of club football, playing just 200 or so minutes in all of last season for Arsenal due to injury problems and loss of form. If you think Mount's last season was bad, it was still infinitely better than ESR's who was barely fit to play all season.

For the right kind of deal I'd still be willing to take a punt on him because a reasonably young English lad on modest wages would always have some resale value down the line if things don't work out but somehow I doubt Arsenal would take just £20-25M for him.
