Eh.

Won some titles at Barca, and has only achieved success at Man City off the back of all time cheating and bolstering the squad with unlimited funds to a point no team has had available.

He has narrative on his side, and this aura built up - but in reality, he isn't that much better, if better at all than a lot of the top managers.

Couldn't do jack at Bayern, and only achieved here what he did because he was given a longer leash than all the other Man City managers.

Worst take I’ve ever seen on Pep. Ever.

Pep has has had continued success everywhere he has gone, more than more or less every top manager in the history of the modern game bar Ferguson and maybe Mourinho but there is no doubt he will eclipse Mourinho in the next season or two. Easily.

Mourinho fell off the cliff a bit after his second spell here and at United. Pep has yet to fall off and has continued to evolve and win trophies. Mourinho’s most successful period as a manager was between 2002-2016. Thats where he won the most trophies. And even then here second time round and at United, you could see signs he was becoming a bit outdated where as Pep hasn’t stopped winning trophies since 2008.

Just feels frustrating that the clubs who finished 1st and 2nd last season are in all out attack mode in the window and will have most, if not all of their major business done before preseason even starts whilst we are the club that needs the most surgery but are working with the handbrake on due to our desperate need to clear out players.

Yes, the club are doing a miraculous job at clearing said players out, but by the time we start to “attack the transfer market” as Fabrizio always says many of the names we’ve been heavily linked may be off to our direct rivals.

At least it doesn’t seem like anyone else is going hard on Caicedo or Barella at this moment in time. So we should have limited competition for them once we do start pushing.

I honestly think Arsenal will be weaker with the purchase of Rice and Havertz and the sale of Partey and the departure of Xhaka.

I don't know the defender they are going to hire, but as for the rest of the purchases, it doesn't scare me.

Again, context matters. Arsenal and City are in all out attack mode because they are already established and know exactly what they need to improve. We are far from having an established team and it was mandatory to have the squad trimmed before making new additions.

Besides, we have already made a few great additions to the squad: Colwill, Maatsen, Malo Gusto, Nkunku. We need to be patience, there are still 2 months left of this window and we have a great scouting team in place to find solutions, even if the mainstream names are going to get taken by others.

I would be more than happy if we get Caicedo done and then see what else can be done. Plus, considering the precedent, I think we will do some more business with Inter and Milan, therefore Onana or Maignan might end up at our club.

So now we sit back and hope our delay tactics with Caicedo don’t bite us in the ass. City are probably the one club that he would instantly jump to if Pep comes calling and we now know that they’ve got £90m to spend on a DM.

Its not a delay tactic, it has to do with financials and FFP. People forget that we already spent 60m this window on Nkunku. The Saudi deals cant officially go thru before July bc of their transfers window, so we have to balance our books before July, meaning we cant have any incoming players before July.

Chelsea were agreeing PT with Caicedo in the meantime.

Chelsea cant sign players in June.

Cant really compare. Pep came to a team that finished 1st and 2nd the 4 years before he came. The club was stable and had a clear structure. His first year wasnt great tho.

Our club on the other hand was threatend to get relegated to amateur football last April.
