Dunno if right, but I see Enzo as a clear long-term replacement for Kante, not Jorginho, not in terms of quality, but in characteristics esp.

Has a skillset that can do it all, but I think to really get the best out of him, needs to be partnered with a traditional defensive midfielder.

Enzo is a dramatically different style of player than Kante

vastly more creative, vastly better offensively

he is not a berserker wrecking ball like Kante, unfortunately (so few have been in football the last 30 years)

BUT

Enzo can quite possibly be a Modric/Pirlo style/level deep lying playmaker/DMF but who also can carry the ball forward and score a goal at times, far more than Kante or Kova or Jorgi

he, from all I have seen, has superb spatial game flow awareness, a pre-conception for moves to come

and he has a deffo hard Argie edge about him

like, oh, I don't know...

perhaps the bloke Rashford stole his goal celebration move from

the one we fucking turned down for 40-45m euros or so in 2021 (when I was climbing walls screaming to BUY) because our ratchet ass scouts and the board said he was not ready, not good enough then

France's Tchouameni shows at World Cup why Mbappe wanted him at PSG- The New Indian Express

Interesting. I have to confess I haven't seen that much skill on the ball so far, nor the passing quality needed for a possession game, but I haven't seen enough of him.
If that's the case, then he'd be an even better signing than I anticipated. 🤤

Enzo at Chelsea? He's been closer and he's been further away!
BENFICA 18:24

It is already almost 7pm in continental Portugal, with five hours and more to go before the market closes in Portugal (and one hour less to close in England) and Benfica and Chelsea have still not reached an agreement for the transfer of Enzo Fernández.

The deal was already close to being done, and the player, by the information of A BOLA, prepared to move for medical tests in a hospital centre in Lisbon, but went backwards, in the meantime, for not fully reconciling Benfica's demands with Chelsea's will.

The Londoners are willing, as we have already reported, to pay 120 million euros for the Argentine midfielder (corresponding to the so-called termination clause) but want to do so over a number of years. Benfica want the 120 million paid in a short period of time.

Negotiations continue, but just when it looked like there might be white smoke, the smoke signals have gone up in smoke again.

What is also known is that Enzo Fernández is waiting in Lisbon while the team and Roger Schmidt prepare, in Arouca, for a difficult game of the 18th round of the League.

In Portugal, there are just over five hours until the market closes. In England, the transfer market closes an hour earlier (11pm this Tuesday). It will, therefore, be crazy hours for the Reds, for Enzo, who has been pressing to leave, and for Chelsea, who, in the meantime (see related news) transferred midfielder Jorginho to Arsenal, for 12 million euros. Jorginho has left (who would finish his contract at the end of the season), and it is precisely for that place that Chelsea want Enzo.
