I mean, I wouldn't want Ake as our marquee defensive signing but if he's coming with MDL i wouldn't mind it too much.

He ups the average age of our defense and it offers Colwill a realistic pathway if he deserves it.

I think there's arguments about his system with regards to attacking players (especially when we lost Chilwell and James last season) but all of these attackers were inconsistent under Lampard too. They've all had periods of blowing hot and cold under Tuchel which is the most frustrating aspect.

Well Lampard had his own obvious tactical issues. I am not very optimistic unless Tuchel evolves, if we sign new attackers next summer we will be crying how we should get rid of him and sign new ones.

It is just not tactics, but also how quickly he changes the front three.

Problem TT has is he working with like 3 different managers players. That's always been the problem with just sacking managers you end up with the massive sqaud of useless players. When I say useless I mean don't fit the current managers play style. Jorginho for instance was bought by sarri to play his way, now he's just a 50mill back passer.

That I can agree with.

Will be hard to totally stick with a trio in a world cup year but I'd try and use four (for me assuming we sign no one else Sterling, Kai, CHO and Mount) for the bulk of the minutes and have a 5th (whoever out of the rest don't get their move) behind that.

I agree on the rotation of the attack I think it's been excessive at times and does impede the chances of a player getting a good run. Tuchel probably needs to be stricter in this regard and get a bigger run of games with a preferred front 3. Maybe buying one or two of his own players will help with that.

It's not like attackers have regularly failed under Tuchel though. Aubameyang and Dembele thrived at Dortmund, Neymar was at his best at PSG under Tuchel, so I wouldn't point the finger entirely at him being unable to get the best out of attackers. I do think our attackers as a group have a consistency problem but ultimately it is up to Tuchel to get the best out of them.

Jorginho was the preferred choice for both Klopp and Pep before he came with Sarri, he is a fine player which every important manager rates including Tuchel.

what is 3 different managers players, what exactly is a Tuchel type player?

Agree. No wonder City and Liverpool are so strong now. They have been working with same top manager for 6-7 years, their squad are now adjusted as for their wishes.

We can reach the same with Tuchel, just need to stick with him after weaker seasons too and try to get him who he wants.

Exactly... He came in and delivered a CL already... lets be honest. We are capable of pretty great things under him. What we achieved with what I considered a significantly weaker squad than Liverpool and Man City is impressive.

Give him time with an owner who backs him.

I'm in favor of keeping Broja around as Kai backup too. The Giroud style option to throw on in games and start the occasional game in cups, CL

I'm not advocating Ake, but a lot of people felt the same way about Rudiger when he waltzed back into the team when Tuchel came in.

Christensen stepped up, Chalobah stepped up, a 37 year old Thiago Silva looked about 25 years old.

I trust Tuchel and the system he uses to bring the best out of the defence and whilst I think there are better options available I do think Ake's skillset is well suited to a back 3.

Ake interest is also down to lack of left footed CBs on the market

Tuchel really likes Kimpembe, Gvardiol but they're not on the market. Bastoni is not interested, Pau Torres is expensive, terrible. Other PL clubs targeting Botman, Lisandro Martinez.

I think De Ligt Silva Ake with Chalobah, Colwill Azpi (?) rotating will be the defense. Ake replaces Chris and Azpi drops to Malang Sarr role.

Two experienced players, two in their prime, two young players looking for a break. There is also Reece who Tuchel likes at RCB

There seems to be a pattern developing that Tuchel’s input was not being taken serious. Tuchel wants De Ligt and Marina wanted to finish her deal to acquire Kounde. It seems that in every instance that there is a major difference, Boehly is backing Tuchel and showing people the door, or allowing them to leave immediately that want to challenge Tuchel’s idea of what the team should be. I hope the players are aware of this.

I'm liking this guy more and more.

You will find out when he buys one, if we believe Marina left cech etc for picking players then he's never bought a "Tuchel Player"

In this summer's case, I agree Marina and Cech made the wrong call trying to keep Lukaku when the man himself was driving himself out.

But long term, I don't think its a good idea for Tuchel to be leading recruitment. Get a director figure who will allow Tuchel to concentrate on tactics, organising the team. There are times when a coach's judgement on recruitment is also clouded - Conte signing Zappacosta, Mourinho trading KdB, Salah.

Barcelona latest offer to Dembele is €6m net/year + €1.5m in bonus to player for extension. There won't be any bonus for his agent.

that is only (gross) around (at current FOREX) £198.8K PW and a £1.29m signing bonus, no agent add-ons

a MASSIVE pay-cut for him

That's what I'm thinking. Aké together with someone like MDL could be decent. I don't think expecting the club to sign two marquee players for CB in one summer is realistic because there are concerns elsewhere on the pitch too that need addressing, and then there's of course the Colwill situation to think about as well.

Aké-Silva-MDL with Colwill and Chalobah in reserve doesn't sound too bad. I don't necessarily think Aké is good enough to be a starter in a title pushing side but at least in the short term having him and Colwill for the LCB role would give the club some breathing room and we could see what Colwill is made of before deciding whether a long-term high profile CB needs to be signed on the left side or not (ie. Gvardiol).

One of Ten Hag's first actions in his first United presser was to suck off Harry Maguire.

They invested in Varane last summer and bizarrely are dead set in making Maguire work, CB is the last place they're investing in certainly for the price it would take for MDL.

the more Manure sticks with slabhead, praises slabhead, nurtures and coddles slabhead, the happier I am

How he got a move to City in the first place I will never understand

Because Pep saw him as a hybrid CB/LB, as LB has been a nightmare for Citeh until they got Cancelo, who is a bit like a poor man's Maldini (a right footer who is superb as a LB, although Maldini was far more ambipedal than Cancelo, and a far better player overall, the best combo defensive back (as he also was a top 10 all-time CB) in football history, and for me the 2nd best defensive back ever, after Franz Beckenbauer, and that call is a close run thing)
