Striker Nicolas Jackson was left out of Chelsea's squad to face Bayer Leverkusen on Friday after agreeing with the club that he can leave this summer.

The 24-year-old trained alone on Friday amid reported transfer interest from Newcastle after they missed out on signing Manchester United-bound Benjamin Sesko.

A move suits Jackson and Chelsea, with the Blues having signed two strikers this summer - Joao Pedro from Brighton and Liam Delap from Ipswich Town.

Chelsea hope to receive at least double the £32m they spent to sign the Senegal forward in 2023 from Villarreal.

The club believe he is worth more than the £52m paid by Arsenal to sign Noni Madueke due to the striker's superior goal and assists statistics.

If their asking price is not met, Chelsea plan to reintegrate Jackson into the squad.

Christopher Nkunku was also left out of the match amid a possible move but is also getting over a minor injury complaint and not in full training.

Jackson has scored 30 goals and delivered 12 assists in 80 matches for Chelsea in his two years at the club.

In September 2024, he signed a nine-year contract until 2033.

After Maresca’s comments I think Guehi is nailed on. Low fee, PL ready, Chelsea connection.

Can’t imagine we’re going to go and pay £80m or something to go and get one of the usual names our supporters fantasize about like the lad from Inter.

As long as Simons is coming I don't mind a budget CB.

Same as long as they’re athletic and super calm on the ball. We need a cool head that can step in and instantly hit the ground running.

Dortmund are hoping to exploit and make Chelsea get nervous about Carney Chukwuemeka. Chelsea wants to sell him for £21m, or at minimum £17m, but BVB wants him for cheaper and through a loan with a buy option.

This game tonight already showing how unnecessary Garnacho is. Gittens and Estevao both look so ready. Neto can play both sides very effectively. Simons is about to come. Hopefully CB emergency for Maresca changes priorities for the board.

Yep. Really don’t see what he really adds to this squad. We’re going to. E playing a shit load of low blocks and packed defenses. Garnacho excels when he can break at pace in a counter attacking side. He’s a shit dribbler and doesn’t offer the technical ability that Gittens, Neto and Estevão do.

Sadly, I think the move is already so advanced that we won’t pull out. We’ve been chasing him for 6 months now and he has totally burned his bridges at United.

Which is why I’m sweating about Xavi. Feels like that’s the target that is more lLike ly to be sacrificed for a CB than Garnacho.

unless we are talking about one of these 4

Alessandro Bastoni
Murillo
Alessandro Buongiorno
Guehi

I do not see what's out there for LCBs

that is that much of an upgrade over Veiga

I intently watched Hincapie tonight

was not impressed all that much
