erinblue 33
14 hours ago, Vesper said: EXCL: Chelsea consider move for free agent but they'll have to be quick https://siphillipstalkschelsea.substack.com/p/excl-Chelsea-consider-move-for-free As things start to move now in the transfer market, there are some domino effects going on as well as many clubs battling to sign the same players. Chelsea have a sticky period now as they await to see their Champions League fate for next season, as this can still effect the targets they bring in. But a number of deals are already being worked on as they look to get a couple of new signings in the door before the Club World Cup begins, in that small transfer window that opens up at the start of June. As you will know, a striker is one of the biggest priorities for Chelsea this summer, but SPTC sources have heard, as we have been reporting here for some time, that two new strikers could still arrive. With the news coming out yesterday via reliable journalist Matteo Moretto of Relevo regarding Nicolas Jackson receiving a lot of interest from potential suitors, and Chelsea not ruling out selling him this summer, this would only increase the chances of Chelsea bringing in two new strikers. We have heard all along that Jackson’s future at Chelsea is not exactly set in stone and if offers come in, then Chelsea will certainly be listening. Jackson is appreciated by Chelsea for sure, but we have heard the reality is that the club, as well as Enzo Maresca, just do not see him as being the main striker to lead the club into the Champions League and elevate them, if they get it of course. The club are in the market for a new striker and of course, this will probably tell you all you need to know. As I’ve said all along, this new striker has never been one they want to backup Jackson, they want one to be an upgrade on Jackson. I’ve got another exclusive article out today that will be on the home page around lunchtime which has further info on new strikers, but for now, this is the info we are getting…. SPTC sources have heard that Chelsea have this week been considering approaching the agents of Jonathan David to sign him as a free agent this summer. It’s an opportunity being looked at, and they see him as an extra striker to come in as well as the main striker they want to sign. We heard even before the Jackson noise that two strikers could be targeted. They may well operate with three strikers next season due to the lack of firepower and goalscorers they have witnessed this season, the thing they see as being our main problem. Marc Guiu could push for a loan move and the club would grant that. Jackson has question marks. And David is a player that the club have had on their radar for some years now and they are looking at attempting to bring him in this window. They will have to be quick though, because Napoli are speaking to him and looking to get a contract signed with him this week, and also Premier League clubs are pushing hard and speaking with him. It’s unclear yet whether Chelsea will come in and make him an offer, but they are certainly considering it this week. Simon Phillips All that waffle & nothing said.....jeeez speculative waffle at this stage is getting clicks..... None of these pricks know anything
mkh 748
Chelsea are now seriously considering opening talks with Ajax for 19-year old Dutch centre-back Jorrel Hato after losing out on Dean Huijsen. He will cost in the region of £37.8m-£42m. Liverpool, AC Milan, and Arsenal remain interested. (via@RudyGaletti)
Mhsc 1,139
Last summer it turned out we were in discussions with Duran and Samu who pretty much no one had heard of (I had not). Curious what random names we're talking to now that could turn out to be pretty good despite a lack of fame at the mo. Bit worried what the fan reaction will be though given how toxic everything is these last years. The plus side this year at least with sticking with Maresca is that for the first time we're entering a summer transfer window with the same manager and sporting directors who worked together all year, and now they can try to get precisely the players we need after learning exactly the limitations of the current group and seeing where we are weak. Hopefully we'll sign some players that slot immediately in because they're perfect for the system and Maresca actually rates and wants them here (unlike Felix etc). Yeah Maresca and his ratings, like he rated KDH and made us waste money on him when Carney was clearly better player who never got a chance. bigbluewillie and mkh

Sanchez and Jorgensen bin them the fuck off, not good enough. Get a CB high quality to play next to Colwill, I'd like to say Chalobah but he's going and I rate him more than Colwill. We need cover for Lavia as he is injured more than a 90 year old and a CF and I mean a proper CF like Gyokares Would Santos serve as the Lavia backup? I'm not suggesting this, because I don't know, genuinely asking.

So many better strikers could move this summer - Gyokeres, Isak, Ekitike, Alvarez, Joao Pedro, Cunha, David, Delap, Sesko. Osimhen had very few good seasons at the top level, why is he worth big fee + huge wages again? Are Delap, Ekitike, Cunha really better than Oshimen though? Like really? Even Joao Pedro, Sesko, David at a push (probably be closest in all fairness barring Isak as his record in France is impressive). Lot of them have all have had 1 breakthrough season at a good standard. Maybe unfair for some of them also but some of them have played already for a good time too. David is a bit different maybe but again - direct comparison, hard to say for sure if he is that much better or better than Oshimen at all. Also which Alvarez? Julian Alvarez? He is the only top CF option of that name and he will not be moving a year after going to Spain…. Oshimen last 5 seasons: 35, 17, 31, 18, 10 goals. Delap last 3 seasons (only played 3 seasons of mens football really): 12, 8, 4 goals. Ekitike last 5 seasons: 22, 4, 4, 11, 3 goals. Joao Pedro last 5 seasons: 10, 20, 11, 4, 9 goals. David last 5 seasons: 25, 26, 26, 19, 13 goals. Cunha last 5 seasons: 17, 14, 2, 7, 8 goals. Sesko last 5 seasons: 21, 18, 18, 11, 21 goals. Jury will be out on Gyokeres when he leaves Portugal. The standard of some the goals he scores are incredibly laughable. Like the defending is Sunday league and wouldn’t ever happen in PL, Bundesliga, Italy, France, Spain. Plus he wouldn’t be first big money CF to leave Portugal and really struggle - Darwin Nunez, Jackson Martinez for instance…. Oshimen big money and big wages but Isak will be the same, David will be the same wage wise as he will certainly have options as he’s on a free. Irrespective of who we go for, if we cheap out on a good CF this summer, it will be a stickler to any chance of making progression. Osimhen is 26 and the data for him is in his prime years unlike guys like Sesko. His best season was also in Turkey, which is worse than the Portuguese league. Gyokeres and Sesko look like they'll be cheaper than Osimhen and will ask for much lesser wages too Delap, Ekitike, Cunha are all going to be much more affordable than Osimhen. For the fee + wages, I'd want a sure-fire top striker and not someone who has a lot of doubts around him. I'd be happy spending that kind of money on Isak for example. Pizy 19,251
Liverpool seem to be properly reloading after their title win. Frimpong done as the TAA replacement and now apparently going to get Kerkez for the left. Two pretty great long term replacements for their fullbacks. I wouldn’t be shocked at all if they suddenly go after Gyokeres. You could drop him in their team just as easily as ours or Arse’s. They’re going to take some stopping extra season once again if they replenish the squad correctly which it seems they are doing. Only way we’ll be able to make a serious challenge is if we beat Forest and make ourselves as attractive to potential top players as possible. Without UCL footy I doubt Gyokeres even considers us. Mhsc 1,139
Osimhen is in many ways a terrible, ultra high risk, make or break signing - but at this point I'll take anything that will create a good mood in the fanbase We should just go and get him

Even without UCL, serious players have come here - Caicedo for example. Would help no doubt but it is possible to challenge in the market because a first-team role at Chelsea is still desirable and English club budget is far higher than some leagues. But that was when this ownership were willing to go absolutely all in regardless of price to get their men at any cost. They felt we HAD to have Enzo and Caicedo. They seem to have backed far away from that sort of spending since. And remember, as astronomical as those two cost they’re still on relatively modest wages compared to the 250-300+ per week that top players make these days. Someone like Osimhen won’t agree to some paltry 100k per week if we try to offer him that as we saw last window. If the board decide they’ve had enough of us struggling then maybe they go all in again even if we fail next weekend. I’m skeptical. 27 minutes ago, Mhsc said: The good news is that successful teams have a tendency to get completely shit out of the blue in an unpredictable fashion They might be awful next year Unless Salah and VVD suddenly start to look really old and take big steps back I can’t see them crumbling sadly. I remember predicting that it would happen this season, lol. I thought Liverpool would really struggle under a new coach and after they barely did anything in the window. Then Salah looked as good or better than ever. Vesper
