So many good GKs we passed up on because this board was convinced of its scouting. Petrovic, Sanchez, Jorgensen - how can you have 3 attempts and not land anyone remotely solid? Especially when Costa, Marmadashvili, Raya etc were on the market. I hope they send Penders on loan to Strasbourg and sign a good GK finally.

Huijsen is once again very young, we lack leaders and experience and this is why we are seeing us cower rather than put up any sort of fight

Sign Huijsen and one more CB with experience since the entire backline can go - Fofana/Badiashile/Chalobah

Huijsen just seems like such a stupid signing/target for our current team. He’s obviously a big talent and could become a top CB in a few years but that’s just not the profile we need right now. He’s not a defender who comes in and elevates us, settles things down, and organizes the whole team from the back like a JT/VVD/Kompany/Thiago Silva. That is what we desperately need. A general at the back who takes command on the pitch.

Signing yet another kid in such a massively important position feels like malpractice. He’ll be just like Colwill has been where he can look brilliant at times but will make too many errors because he’s a kid.

We need stability and experience from whichever CB we sign this summer, not another teenager. Huijsen is the sort of CB that is the perfect signing for a club like Liverpool where he can learn alongside VVD and be gradually phased in over a season or two. Putting him next to Colwill feels like a bad idea.

Unless Maresca is planning to switch to a back 3 next season I just can’t see this going well.

Jonathan Tah would be a great free signing, but his salary demands will be crazy and he will never come here if we do not have CL.

The clear frontrunners for him are Real Madrid (especially if Xabi Alonso goes there), Barca, and Bayern.

I disagree on Huijsen. I think he is already good to go.

Do you say the same thing about Murillo that you say about Huijsen?

Who do you think we should go for at CB?

that would be so Chels

Citeh get a great GKer for only £34m

and we have dropped well over £200m (Kepa adjusted for inflation plus all the rest after him) and have no one (yet, Pemders may get there ina few years) remotely WC for all that dosh.

He won't join Arsenal, as he isn't getting in ahead of Gabriel and Saliba, who are both young and in their prime.

they are loaded at CB

all of these can play well there, all would make our team

William Saliba
Gabriel Magalhães
Jakub Kiwior (has been superb since Gabriel went down)
Riccardo Calafiori
Ben White
Jurrien Timber

Chelsea are set for another busy summer transfer window when the season comes to an end with just five league games left now.

We know that there are a number of positions that the club are looking to bring in, and they will for sure be very busy with outgoings too.

Perhaps a surprise position that the club might look to sign in is another attacking midfielder. This is likely due to the fact that both Joao Felix and Christopher Nkunku are likely to be sold or loaned out this summer, as will Carney Chukwuemeka. So that will leave Cole Palmer as the only attacking midfield option in the squad.

As reported, Saudi leading the race for Victor Osimhen, who wanted to move to Al-Ahli last summer.

(Ben Jacobs)

If he seriously goes over there after hitting 30+ goals, he shouldn't be considered by any top club again.

Murillo is a left footed, left sided CB too, right? I know Huijsen is as well but he’s super two footed.

With Colwill here it feels weird that we’re interested in left footed, left sided CB’s. Colwill has been poor this season but I highly doubt we’re thinking of moving on.

Yes, my ideal pairing would be Murillo at left CB and the ambipedal Huijsen at right CB.

I see no reason to sell Colwill (I rate Murillo over Levi, just to be clear, at least atm), unless we truly need the cash. He will get plenty of minutes as the number 3 CB.

It’s been a real day of sourced articles and transfer news from us today as we had a host of stories coming in.

If you haven’t see our stories of today yet, they should have dropped in your emails, you can visit the home page after reading this to recap.

The centre back position is another key area Chelsea are looking to sign in and improve this summer, and SPTC sources have informed us that there is a chance that we sign two centre backs.

I am hugely in favour of signing Huijsen but also agree with those who say he is not what we need - to that I would just say its true he is not ALL we need but he is a huge upgrade on what we have so we need to go for him if he is interested asap - he would immediately become our best CB, by a mile. After that we still need to look for another CB - and ideally that person is also club captain material, at minimum they need to be an aggressive ball winner that is insane in duels with enough basic technical skill to handle modern build up play.

Colwill as our 4th best CB behind Fofana would be a much more normal and realistic progression for an academy player with obvious limitations like him. He should be out on loan still really.

See lots of people on Twitter saying Tah has been really shit this season after his move didn’t happen.

As long as Sancho is taking a huge pay cut then signing him does make sense tbh, we can loan him out for a decent fee every year to a league he can perform at a higher level in, and sell him on for FFP profit (maybe even real profit). He is not a bad squad player either to have if we want, not great but he's a pretty normal looking backup player for a top team. Could send him to Strasbourg for a year to pad his numbers and sell him on for more than we'll pay Utd surely. But that is a big IF about him willingly writing off a huge amount of his salary that we don't have much info on.
