Was it a verbal or written agreement?

Terms mean nothing until official.

I'm sure that Rudiger's agent is shopping around, that is the smart thing to do and so no surprise there.

But it would be also very dumb to not even wait to learn who the new owners are and see what they have to offer before he makes a move.

they never said (I am sure they meant verbal, obviously, as he cannot sign officially until after the season ends)

I REALLY hope they are wrong as we are in a huge spot of bother if we lose both Rudiger and AC (and ON FREES, which is just madness, as that is like £70 to 80m or so shit away)

With some of the main bids for the club being reported, I'm quietly confident that any of the likes of Boehly, Ricketts, Broughton getting hold of us, money will be there in the summer to be spent if required.

I would expect Rudiger's contract to be one of the first priorities to a new owner, possibly followed by making sure Tuchel is secured (maybe an extension to his contract).

But getting to the summer, I feel that even if some of the prospective owners want to try and reign the spending in a little in the future, they'll want to get fans on their side and usher in a new era, their own era, at the club and the way that will likely happen is targeting a couple of big signings to add to the squad.

I am sure he will not be sold under 100 million. Napoli payed 75M for him and they are not a club easy to buy from. De Laurentiis is a big time son of a bitch, rejected several bids for Hamsik, Insigne, Koulibaly and so on.

Terrific player though, whoever can sign him will be happy club.

I think the new owners will make Rudi No.1, especially if they're American. Can see them failing to see of the logic of giving him an extra £15-£25m in contract guarantees to then blow £50m+ on a replacement who will want just as much in wages. Issue will be time.

That being said, transfer speculation is all guess work atm, as too much is up in the air. I mean, if we get the Saudis we could be looking exclusively at WC players, whereas if we get Woody expect a sale of a couple of decent players and a reliance on youth players to replace them. If no sale goes through (I think it will) then batten down the hatches.

Let's see how the next few weeks play out.

It reminds me of Calciopoli when Juve was kicked to Seria C

Hardly think we would gave up on Gallagher. Kova, Kanté and Jorgi are all injury prone, latter two are 31. Gallagher is definetly one to keep and he has contract. With Rüdiger, situation is a little out of control, it's almost April and we still don't know who will be the owner and who will be the PIC to negotiate with him while he is free to talk with other clubs. Him, Azpi and Christensen will be hard to keep in this situation, but I am confident Gallagher will be with us next season.

Man United putting ‘pressure’ to sign PL star Antonio Rüdiger on a free – Red Devils ‘have not had final say’

http://sportwitness.co.uk/man-united-putting-pressure-sign-pl-star-free-red-devils-not-final-say/

As most of you will know, Antonio Rüdiger’s contract at Chelsea runs out in the summer.

It’s been one of the most talked about free agent stories of the season, since the Germany international is among the best in his position in the Premier League, and Manchester United know this.

Chelsea’s current situation means the club cannot offer him a new contract, even if he was reportedly interested in extending at Stamford Bridge, but that could all change if the Blues are sold away from Roman Abramovich.

That could still take a while, though, allowing clubs to approach Rüdiger in the meantime with their own offers to try and lure him away from London.

PSG? Real? Tottenham? Juventus? Announced as promised to the Old Lady, #Rüdiger has not made its final decision. At the end of the contract with #Chelsea , the German international is notably the subject of a forcing from Manchester United. #Mercato

Like Parisians and Madrid, the Red Devils have not said their last word. For its part, Bayern Munich has backtracked on the XXL demands of the player.

Manchester United are one of those, being pushed by the German and French media as a challenger to the likes of Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain for the centre-back.

French journalist Ignazio Genuardi brought an update over the weekend, explaining that Rüdiger ‘has not taken a definitive decision on his future’, and is ‘notably the subject of pressure from Manchester United’, keen to bring him to Old Trafford for next season.

Whether the Chelsea defender would want to move to another Premier League side remains to be seen, but ‘the Red Devils have not had their final say’ in the matter.

how about shaw for a back-up/rotation with chilwell?

hard pass on fat boy Shaw

there are only 3 LB's who are clearly better than a healthy Chilwell atm

and none are available

Alphonso Davies
Andrew Robertson
Theo Hernández

there may soon be 4 IF Nuno Mendes continues his rise

zero chance I would swap a healthy Chilwell for Ferland Mendy

Jose Gaya is really class, but not sure if he is up to the EPL and he has a cray 100m euro release clause

there was a wild card (and I say he would already be on Chels if not for his horrid injury in the Euros)

Leonardo Spinazzola  right footed inverted LB BUT he will not be filly fit by summer 2022 transfer window after that horrid Achilles rupture in the Euros

that all leaves

Abdou Diallo   (can play CB as well, which is a big plus with AC and perhaps Rudiger leaving)
Borna Sosa
Aaron Hickey
Marc Cucurella
Renan Lodi
Ramy Bensebaini
Caio Henrique

Huddersfield Town's Chelsea loanee Levi Colwill named among best young players in world football

The Terriers centre-back has been listed alongside international stars like Jude Bellingham and Gavi as one of the most promising players on the planet aged 19 or under

Huddersfield Town centre-back Levi Colwill has been named among the top 50 young players in world football in a list assembled by NXGN, a global network of journalists operating in 37 countries.

Borussia Dortmund’s England international Jude Bellingham has topped the men’s list, with Reims’ Haitian midfielder Melchie Dumorney topping the women’s list. Only players born on or after 1st January 2003 were considered for selection, and past winners of the men’s list include Ansu Fati, Jadon Sancho, Justin Kluivert, Rodrygo, Gianluigi Donnarumma and Youri Tielemans.

Colwill is on loan at the John Smith’s Stadium from Chelsea this season and has put in a standard of performance that belies his youth: he only turned 19 last month. The defender, who is currently on international duty with England under-21s, has won plaudits for his maturity on and off the pitch and is tipped for a big future in the game.

Terriers head coach Carlos Corberan said of Colwill earlier this season: "I think he’s going to be one of the most important centre-backs for this country in the future."

Town have conceded just 20 goals in Colwill’s 22 Championship starts this season, though he has found his opportunities limited recently after Matty Pearson and Tom Lees excelled in his absence with a knee injury he suffered soon after the turn of the new year that kept him out for around six weeks.

Colwill is the only current Championship player named on the list, which also includes the likes of Liverpool’s Harvey Elliott and Barcelona starlet Gavi.

Raphinha:

Chelsea transfer target playing in West Yorkshire agrees on terms with Barcelona

According to the Spanish publication Sport (h/t The Sun), Chelsea have been dealt a transfer blow as Barcelona have reached a personal agreement with Leeds United attacker Raphinha. He has been one of the best players in his position at Leeds for a while and seems to be in line to leave his club this summer.

The Brazilian has a contract with Leeds until 2024, but he is expected to depart his side at the end of this season. His club was eager to tie him down on a new deal, but he has rejected the latest proposal. Barca have taken advantage of this situation and have found common ground with the winger ahead of a summer transfer.

The Blaugrana side has agreed to terms with the 25-year-old over a five-year contract and has tabled an initial bid of £29million to the Whites as well. The Spanish side enjoyed an edge over the competitors as the forward’s agent, Deco, played with them in the past and is also currently a scout for them in South America.

Chelsea still have a chance

This supposed deal is, of course, not yet a done deal as the Catalans are yet to agree to the transfer fees with Jesse Marsch’s side. Moreover, the English side is currently keeping a firm stance that his £70million release clause must be activated. As such, we can use that to make a final stand and make our case for signing the Premier League attacker.

It would not be easy at all, with the Whites ace already having made up his mind according to the piece of information stated above. However, there is always a possibility that he can change his stance in the future, so we should not give up just yet. That being said, we must be wary of Liverpool, who are also keeping tabs on his situation.

However, the sanctions imposed on Thomas Tuchel’s side prevent them from engaging in transfer dealings, which would be another blow for us. After all, we would be forced to solve this ownership uncertainty before setting things up for a potential move. Hence, we must take care of that matter as soon as possible so as not to lose out on our targets.

Since the Brazil international has already refused to sign an offer from his current club that would have doubled his wages, it’s not wrong to take that as an indication that he is looking to leave them after all. Currently, we have ample forwards in our ranks but a player like Raphinha is certainly someone we would be wise to not say no to.

Only time will tell us an answer on whether we can retaliate and pip the La Liga club in the process to strike a deal with the West Yorkshire-based club. If we miss out on him, it would, however, not be the end of the world for us.
