I wouldn’t be disappointed to sign Lukaku because he’s miles better than what we have, that said, it would leave a bit to be desired.

personally, I would take a shot at Ronaldo, even if that’s for a season and then activate Haaland’s release clause. No guarantee he would come to us, but ultimately, as a stop gap I would still take Ronaldo over Lukaku. Pure finisher and capable of interchanging, but also ruthless winning attitude that our young lads need more of. Juve doesn’t want him, they may not have CL due to ban, he won’t cost the world in terms of transfer fee and I would honestly take a shot at someone who is known to keep themselves in peak physical condition and still want to win more.

Look at the striker problem again next summer when Haaland is available or elsewhere.

Personally I would prefer to give Timo another crack than buy Lukaku. As for CR7 pretty sure he is on record saying he wouldn't play a English side not named Man Utd.

I think it's worth bearing in mind that when Traore arrives at a club everyone is initially impressed but before too long he's benched and not long after that his club is willing to listen to offers.

Traore is basically Willian on a very resolute steroids regimen but with worse shooting. Flashy but totally ineffective. But his power and pace gives him an aura that immediately makes defenders panic. It is a super long shot but if TT can teach him the basics of football he could be a decent RWB backup. I don't think it is worth the hassle tho.

Timo is always going to play on the left side though right? Hmm realistic destinations for Ronaldo otherwise? PSG? Doubtful. I think it’s worth a punt considering you know what you’re getting, same as T Silva.

Lukaku's first touch is massively improved. I saw about 20 if his games this season. You simply cannot claim it is not vastly improved. There are other reasons to say no to a buy, but that is not one IMHO.

It's probably in the very unrealistic bracket like Haaland and Kane, but there have been a few rumours that Lewandowski wants to try a new challenge, he's even admitted it himself without directly saying he wants to leave Bayern. Pretty sure we were here with him a couple of years ago so I do take it with a pinch of salt for now that he may be angling for a new contract but it's also not outside the realms of possibility at this point in his career having won everything he could at Bayern.

I know he's nearly 33 and any investment would be dead money in terms of sell on value but this isn't 2012 where we need to rebuild an ageing squad. We are well stocked with a younger core in the squad that maybe we can take the risk with someone performing at a peak level.

For me he's the best striker in the world at the moment and if anything just seems to keep getting better. If you got 2-3 top years out of him and he fired us to a league or even another Champions League title then he could well cover the cost. It would very much depend on what Bayern would ask for in such a deal, but if he did push them to leave I'd love Chelsea to be in for him. Someone like him could be, and more than likely is, the difference between us and City in a league title race.

I think some of you are being maybe to harsh with Lukaku and I think it's hard to look for a better option than him, but well, maybe you are right and I'm wrong... who knows?

His team play and first touch +1 definitely agree he has grown as a footballer under Conte. 
 

what concerns me about Lukaku, you look at his goals and most come inside the box, we create those chances sure, but also Serie A defending is comical. Unsure if it’s just this year or because I’ve watched more A games than usual due to being interested in Juve/Inter, but my God, it is a farce in terms of marking and knowing where your man is. I don’t doubt he will get goals, I’d wager that a lot of strikers would, it’s whether he’s the right type of striker for us af perhaps he is, interested to know others opinions. I guess against teams who sit back he’s an option to go short and lay off to MF like Drogs used to do. 
 

*edit* comical is harsh, but you tend to hold it to a certain standard because it’s Italy and it’s just not good from what I’ve watched.

Apparently we are after him. 

This will be a money better spent then Lukaku.

Let’s say we did get him, what formation are we looking at? We’d have to stick with a back 3 right? Rumours suggest TT wants to go back 4, though it’s speculation, but it makes sense being in the market for a ball playing RCB.
