It depends on what context we look at things. Do I think he's been decent in terms of individual performance? Yes but I think he lacks some vital skills to play in that role. Also given the fluitidity and build up play we lose by putting him there instead of Jorgi or Gilmour the trade off has to be that we're much more solid defensively, and I'm just not sure we are (even yesterday there were a couple of occasions Watford were a through ball away from a 1 on 1 with Kepa).

Kante is more of an proactive hunter, sitting in sticking 100% to his position and playing the patience game just isn't him, even if he learns to reign it in a bit more often there will still be times he instinctively evades position to hunt an interception/tackle and if that backfires we're all of a sudden really stretched (that was a problem for him even at his absolute peak playing there, case in point Ozil's goal against us in that game that forced Conte to overhaul the system), an example since the restart would be where the late free kick Villa got against us, he had to bring Grealish down because he evaded position and got turned.

Sorry mate. But it's a case of you don't know what you got, till it's gone.

Jorginho is shit. Absolute shit. He is literally hunted down by opponents. Easily one of the weakest links. Moreover slows our attacks down more than giving it an impetus ans defensively it just makes us imbecilic.

I think Lampard has been totally and completely vindicated. Jorginho should be no where near our starting 11.

The five Chelsea players whose futures are in doubt after Sheffield United shocker

https://www.football.london/chelsea-fc/five-chelsea-players-whose-futures-18583249

Frank Lampard's message was clear. When the head coach said that he had learnt a lot from his team's spineless performance, it was clear that a number of those on the pitch now have serious doubts over their future.

The most galling thing about the 3-0 defeat to Sheffield United was the lack of commitment and fight. Individual mistakes are one thing, a lack of effort is a whole other.

Here are five players with a challenge on their hands to prove they should be part of next season's squad.

Shocker English media outlet blatantly ignore Ross Barkley.

Realistically you could have those 5 plus Emerson, Alonso and Barkley if you wanted to but we will never offload 7 from our squad on top of Willian and Pedro who are going plus the several others who make up the loan scrapheap. Plus you could question whether or not James, Abraham or Hudson-Odoi will feature as prominently next season (they'll obviously still be squad players 100% as they are talented boys but you can expect that this season will have been a reality check for them in many instances that hopefully they grow stronger from).

we are a very overrated team atm

only players who have been solid for significant periods
8 out of 25

not acceptable

and some of those 8 have been super sketchy at times

Marcos Alonso    (sometimes, but must be upgraded upon)
César Azpilicueta   (NOT at LB at RB only)
Mateo Kovacic    (best player overall and he has barely played lately)
Mason Mount    (I cannot complain, he has done what he has been asked to do overall)
Christian Pulisic    (our only true threat atm)
Willian    (been our second best player in the restart but is clearly tired atm)
Tammy Abraham    (only first half, has been dreadful overall in 2020)
Olivier Giroud    (sometimes)

Ake is better than anyone in our CB positions.

Which points at more for how bad our guys have been as opposed to how good he is. He is decent with the ball but defensively he is far from outstanding.

What do you guys think what is more important to us - to sign left-back or a keeper? I assume we can all agree that buying central-back is more important than those two...
CB first, after that keeper and if there is money left, buy a LB

Totally agree. I don't think Alonso is better than Kepa, I just think keeper's position is more important than left-back.

Think there's a distinct lack of outstanding cbs at the minute. He's a good player tho

I honestly don't think the LB thing is an issue. I've a lot of time for Alonso. I know defensively he's his problems but all in all I like him. Think we need 2 solid CB much more than LB
