ChelseaFanUK 1,014
Quite clear to me that Lampard was simply towing the party line. He has said in previous weeks we need to strengthen this window in the goals department and/or creativity/attacking areas and that is still the case, especially as Giroud is off. Even though he wasn't really used. If no one was coming, he would say that. A striker or a good number 10 could be on the way, possibly Lemar on loan if targets are just not available until the summer The one thing i do take from his presser is a CB is not joining. If managers dont want a striker, or a Cb, or a winger, they would say so. Wen asked about Dembele he'd have said "im not looking for a striker this window" "no big news today or tomorrow, nothing imminent" suggests work is being done Just sit back and see what happens
1chelsea 864
I feel that after presser we are close to signing someone and saying all that is part of the script
NikkiCFC 8,319
But it's interesting how Frank gave different responses when asked about Zaha and Dembele. He could say about Dembele the same line "he's a player of another club and I don't want to talk about it"...

I think he was just making the point that the media seem to think he is the main target, and the only target for striker. Whereas Frank said the media have simply overstated how much of a target he is. ie. We know about him, but he isnt the main target like they claim
NikkiCFC 8,319
Can't believe @manpe never mentioned the striker we should have signed ERIK SORGA young Estonian striker with most impressive stats I have ever seen for such a young age just moved to US second division for 500k I'll keep my eyes on him. I saw it pop up in yellow box thing I think it will end up being 6m euro (£5.1m) which is what I have said all along for months we should get for him, plus £5m for Pedro (now it looks like, foolishly, we are just going to hold onto Pedro and let him walk on a free in summer) I see many on here still think there will be some significant business done this window I do not see it happening certainly no CB is coming in (so we are burning the buyback for Ake (who is left-footed and who has played at LB before) AND we are saving Bournemouth's arse from relegation perhaps, which pisses me off!) No LB coming in as there is zero linkage to Telles, who is the only really high quality one doable (and he is a great price) as there is zero chance we dump out 60m euros on Grimaldo now (at east I hope not as I am not sold on him at all, especially at 60m euros), let alone 100m on Gaya No DMF (which is a vitally needed position few talk about) unless we snap up Boubakary Soumaré , but I think he goes elsewhere (even the giants like RM, Manure, Barca, Bayern, Juve are now in on the frenzy as Lille says he is deffo being sold) No AMF as I see zero links to anyone as of late at all, RM said basically give us around $43m and Isco is yours, and we did nothing, so I do not see Ziyech or any other happening at all, and again, no links at all of any sort of credibility to any AMF No winger unless there is some secret plan to buy Zaha (and that would mean Lampard has been basically completely bullshitting anyway over the whole thing, which I so hope is NOT the case) I think all the other links were rubbish (Leon Bailey, Samu Chukwueze, etc) I see nothing in terms of any links with Zaniolo, who is also a AMF and is a left footer since a year ago. Finally, I see no Dembele buy at CF (Lampard went out of his way to throw water on the very notion, plus Lyon is quite adamant he is not moving now, and it would take a huge overpay to change their minds), and all the others of any proven big 5 league quality are not moving in January that I can see. Habib Diallo, ffs, of Metz, even turned us down! LOLOLOLOLOL He doesn't want to come here and wants to stay at Metz at least until the end of the season (no great loss at all IMHO)
Vesper 30,177
very worrisome stat https://www.football.london/premier-league/boubakary-soumare-january-transfer-rumours-17549546 Of the 44 central midfielders to have amassed over 1,000 minutes in Ligue 1 this season, Soumare placed 43rd for defensive duels per 90, which indicates that he is not particularly inclined to engage in taking on opposing players for the ball, compared to his contempories. not acceptable

Probably says more about our transfer business during this window. I can't see us signing anyone other than a CF now. Pretty sure if Pulisic hadn't gotten his injury, Pedro might have been allowed to leave considering his contract expires in the summer and we don't look like extending it. But because of the injury, Pedro is suddenly back from exile. Pedro could have been used to give Pulisic some breather between October and December but instead, the latter was flogged to death for 12 consecutive games and is now injured because of it. The thing with playing in the mud leagues is that you need to have an impeccable work ethic and drive to keep working on yourself and -to me- signing for MLS DC United feeder club doesn't show much ambition. He supposedly had offers from Eredivisie/Ekstraklasa/Russian Premier League/Scandinavian leagues, which in theory could have been a better stepping stone to be noted by the European scouts. Since when is 12 games in a row flogging a player to death? I dont see Sheff Utd players complaining and they have a tiny squad... The guy is clearly injury prone. Talented without a doubt, but injury prone...

Pulisic is still new to the league, still adjusting to the higher intensity games etc but was asked to play 12 straight games. The fact that he mentioned about tiredness to Lampard and then suffered muscle injury only goes to reflect that. He clearly is still not conditioned to the demands of playing in this league yet. How can you compare to Sheffield United? They have only played one game per week while we have been playing a game every 3-4 days for pretty much the entire season. Furthermore, so many players at the other clubs have gone down to injuries over the past month or so because of the sheer number of games they have to play. Because he's injured after 12 games 🤔 Chelsea version of Darren Anderton 🤣 Tiredness - honestly my heart bleeds for him. Yeah they are playing the same games less European football - and nobody else is complaining, e.g. Liverpool... (played more games than us). Proper little snowflakes we have in our team 👍 Little wonder we have no backbone and are easily bullied when our players are 'tired'... Never heard Drogs, Ballack, Frank or John say they were tired... I guess that's the difference between 'winners' and 'non-winners'... 👍 It's cool though- this is the modern world and I guess I just have to adapt my expectations accordingly... It's funny how quick you called him 'injury prone' after one injury but have it your way. Nobody else is complaining? A number of managers have complained about the fixture congestion and yes, even Klopp - https://www.thisisanfield.com/2020/01/jurgen-klopp-criticises-fixture-schedule-after-injuries-plague-premier-league/. And for the record, Liverpool have their injury problems over the last month or so - Matip, Fabinho, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Keita etc. More teams' injuries over the festive period - https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/50986483.
