Per the interview, it seems more so that he just wasn't interested in playing that style of football and preferred playing in a more technical league but over the last few years (I guess he means during his time at PSG) the league has become much more technical which appeals to him.

Give the guy a bit of time. Even for his age its still a change. Even then, what do you want a 36 year old guy to do in a team thats continuously exposed without the ball?

But no one give the same excuse for our cb last season. So is it the protection or like most people said our cb were just one of the worse in epl.
