Ben Chilwell

You keep bringing up the games against Mahrez and Lamptey. Don't you think you could find similarly bad games for literally any player on the planet? Reguilon was shit defensively just this week against Manchester United but I don't see many people constantly bringing that up, instead everyone just creams their pants over his goal assist in the game.

Triggered add ons do not mean much about how well Chilwell played.
Hazard played bad and we still got 35 millions of euros because some funny add ons got triggered. Marina masterclass

And I keep bringing Mahrez and Lamptey up because I saw those matches live. There are probably way more players that Chilwell could not handle.
And what is the point buying such an expensive LB when he is hardly an improvement? When you compare the defense stats of Alonso and Chilwell, you do not see much difference. Offensive wise, Alonso might even be better when you look at the stats. So he can't handle the top players and his stats are not impressive either.

And you mention the new market. Telles and Tagliafico would cost 30 million Euros, while Reguilon costs 25 million Euros.
So I cannot see this new market, in which 50 million became a standard price for all LBs. Maybe for english players, but clearly not international players. Tagliafico, Telles and Reguilon cost less.

And even if Reguilon is as bad at defending as Chilwell is, which I do not think is the case because Reguilon has better defense stats, he still costs less than half of his price. If Chilwell was just spanish, he would cost the same price as all these other LB alternatives. Him being English makes him worth double the price. Maguirr was not worth 80 million Euros. He was worth 40 million Euros. If Harry was spanish, he would have been transferred for around 40-50 million Euros.

The point is that our manager wants him seemingly. That's all that matters! Whether you like him or think he's worth it is irrelevant

Agree to disagree then. I don't consider a team/player to have had a good performance defensively if they conceded a lot of clear-cut chances, whether they end up as goals or not. I don't care what the stats say about that, I will rather go with what I see with my own eyes.

And anyway I was responding to a guy who kept going on and on about Chillwell being 'destroyed' by Lamptey. That game ended 0-0 so going by your logic Chillwell must have had a glorious game that day, having kept a clean sheet and all. ;)

chalk and cheese, and I never discussed Lamptey v Chilwell (which, tbf, you did say it was another poster)

Lamptey is not remotely in Chilwell's league atm, if you want my opinion on those two (although they do not play the same position)

if we waved a magic wand and Lamptey was trotted out for 35, 36 games as our EPL-game-starting RB, I would be tearing my hair out

he is a dwarf  in footie terms (20cms shorter than me the last time his height was listed by CFC) and that utter lack of height would have killed us over the long run

(he was listed at 1.63m on our club, and Wikipedia keeps getting edited to 1.65m, maybe he grew 2cms I suppose)

we have not gotten all the add-on's triggered only some (RM winning the league his first year was the major one) but nowhere near €35m worth

some are basically impossible (like him winning the Ballon d'Or, etc)

we got between £10m and £15m for RM winning the league

(T-markt says 13.5m as they added on £13.5m to his original £90m t-fee)

IF all are met, we end up with around £130m

What? Chilwell is "Hardly an improvement" on alonso and emerson? Really?

Did you watch Leicester for the first 20 games?

We got 20 million that Real reached a CL spot and 15 million Euros that Real won La Liga.

Contrary to some on here. I'm really fine with Chilwell at 50m. I always felt he was the safer option. If money is not an issue, I would definitely pick Chilwell over Reguilon. I feel there are still question marks with Reguilon whereas we sort of already know how Chilwell will look here. He's not Alphonso Davies or Robertson but he's still really good. Probably the second best LB in the league. Great athlete, comfortably carries the ball when pressed, strong in the air, decent passer etc.. I know people have doubts about his defense but he's alright especially considering he gets no help from his winger, so on that front I suppose it's a good thing he's already used to being exposed all the time.

My biggest worry about him is that at the moment he's a jack of all trades rather than a specialist. I don't think he excels at a particular aspect of the game. Maybe his ability to carry the ball almost effortlessly at times kinda like a midfielder but that's about it. Still time to develop though..

those numbers do not add up, sorry

if the had paid another €20m  (£18m), Hazards fee would be sitting at £121.5m

it is not

they qualified for CL ages ago (they ended up 27 points above the 5th place team, Villarreal) and yet no bonus was not added in, whilst as soon as they won the league, the bonus was added on immediately,

plus why would they make such an easy thing (simply qualifying for the CL, as it was the 1995/96 season in which they last failed to qualify for the CL, so they missed the 96/97 CL, as did Barca) force them to pay MORE than a much harder thing (winning the league)

T-Markt is very fast fastidious when updating for bonuses, and the only one they added in (and I showed this with proof) was the 15m euro  (£13.5m) bonus add-on for them winning the league

show me definitive links and I will retract
