Convincing response from Lampard...

Glad someone in the press asked the question about Jorginho..

...was getting the impression that the folks at Cobham had forgotten that he is part of the squad

Yeah but we don't have anyone near that level in midfield to play in front of him. this would mean he can never play to his full potential for us.
Tbh i see more of jorginho in him, playing simple passes quickly between the lines and controlling the tempo. he has not really shown the vision and long range  passing ability of Pirlo.
He has top class creativity. He is without the doubt the most creative youth team player that I have ever seen at Chelsea. Boga was the best dribbler at Chelsea youth team, Ruben was the most physical and Billy the most creative.

I am not even a big Jorginho fan but what a boss. Stepped on that pitch like he owns it and just passed the ball around for fun. His passing is so clean, how we have missed that. Feeling much more confident about the run in as long as Lamps plays him again. Also no sign of rustiness at all no idea how he managed that.

I am really, really curious about what has happened between Lampard and Jorginho. Whatever flaws Jorginho has, it is quite bizarre to see a manager who made him vice captain and praised him so much pre-pandemic to suddenly not playing him at all.

Maybe he does not like his agent that talks every two weeks about Jorgi leaving to Juventus

If Lampard isn't playing Jorginho because of that, then he needs slapping. Jorginho's agent has always been a talkative bastard anyway.

I think it's mainly down to our attacking players being shite in front of the goal and Frank is trying to counter that by playing two 8's who can score regularly. Either way, it's madness.

Maurizio Sarri is far from being the only manager in the world who'd make Jorginho first name on the team sheet. Selling him would be a big mistake

But it's still quite bizarre that he hadn't played a single minute since the restart until today. Gilmour will be a fine player for us in the future but he is still young and not playing great right now. Lampard talked about having experienced players being important in this run-in and yet Jorginho has been tossed aside completely for whatever reason.

Has to be starting every game to the end of the season now please. If not something terribly wrong. Losing control in games is an issue and we all seen the difference he made tonight, always wanting the ball, always making space to receive it, always making the right pass. If FL didnt notice the difference tonight then he never will.

I've been saying it. Plenty of people on this forum have been saying it.

The moment we lost Kante and Kovacic, we should have resorted to Jorginho to control the midfield. He finally plays in this match, probably 70 mins later than he should have.

Its bizarre.

Even if the intent is to move past Jorginho in the future, why would you sacrifice the game when it was obvious we were playing like a 10 man team with Gilmour in the middle of the park. He waited so long to introduce Joginho.

Embarrassing to concede 60% of the possession to Crystal Palace.

Gilmour has NOT looked the same since the restart. Its actually detrimental to keep playing him in this state, as his confidence will only plummet. His passing (even though the intent of his passes were good) were off the mark, and led to so many turnovers. Too lightweight and poor positioning in our defensive transitions, barely making interceptions.

Hope Jorginho starts the next game, especially if Kante and Kovacic are out longer. I would start him even if one those 2 were actually available.

According to The Athletic, Jorginho's agent will hold talks with the club about his future at the end of the season. Jorginho is settled in London but keeping an open mind about his future. A move to Juventus is not out of the question but nothing from them so far to suggest they are prepared to pay the money that Marina will demand for Jorginho, who still has 3 years left on his contract.
