Mancienne eyes Chelsea exit

Under-21 skipper admits he will need to move

Last updated: 12th September 2010

England Under-21 captain Michael Mancienne admits that he will probably have to quit Chelsea to pursue his Premier League career.

Mancienne has joined Wolves on loan for a third time and the 22-year-old feels that although being a product of Chelsea's youth system, he will never get the chance to forge a career at Stamford Bridge.

Mancienne admits that Chelsea is a tough place to make the breakthrough and he will likely have to seal a permanent move away from the club.

"It is difficult to break in at Chelsea. They've got players who are representing and captaining their countries," he told The People.

Get away

"They're in so many cup competitions as well and they need to win all the games.

"It's a good place to get your football education but it is hard for youngsters to get an opportunity to play.

"I've played a few games but I've been out on loan the majority of the time.

"The manager doesn't speak to me, not when I'm out on loan. Instead, I just have scouts that come to watch games and I report to them and they then go to the club.

"As a player you just want the chance to make a name for yourself, to show what you can do.

"So will I have to get away from Chelsea? Yes, I probably will."

Belief

Mancienne is delighted to be back under Mick McCarthy's tutelage at Molineux.

"Mick has been great for me at Wolves, he's given me the belief I needed," he said.

"If I make a mistake in a game he'll pull me aside and tell me how I can improve.

"The truth is I don't care where I play at the moment. I just want to be out there."

His days at Chelsea seem to have been numbered for a while now, just hope he has a good season at Wolves so we can get a decent fee in the summer.

He can go and see if he can do it right some place else. He is a regular normal player. He has not show anything to deserv a chance. Good luck in other team

If David Luiz didn't come, he'd have chance to be a regular first team member but now it's gone. I rather see him on another loan than sell him.

He never had a chance of regular football, regardless of the David Luiz arrival.
