Conte knows how to improve players and get the most out of them. You think the same can be said about Moyes, Martinez and Koeman? There is a very good chance he would flourish under Conte since much of what we do in games is rehearsed over and over again. He'll be required to use less of his instincts and more of his skill on the ball. I'd rather him than Drinkwater any day of the week. We'll see who the club picks. A proven premier league midfielder or a 23-year old who still doesn't have a defined position?

Drinkwater is obviously the club's priority and he's close to signing but for now I wouldn't rule out Barkley joining too. Ross Barkley would be a luxury player to add depth and tactical variety. Unlike for Drinkwater I can't really see a clear role for Barkley in the squad but I have a feeling he would prove a useful player in the long run, especially coming off the bench when the team needs goals. The only problem is his current injury, which might take him a few more months to recover from.

Cosmin 2,484
Drinkwater is clearly going to be a bench warmer. I really can't see him imposing himself as a regular starter. I think even he knows that. Barkley, on the other hand, has the potential to do something fantastic and to be a very solid addition on the long term. I would like to have him here. The Skipper 20,609
Barkley can adapt and play CM imo. Would rather him than Drinkwater if we're signing players because they're English. For example I'd much rather we get Ox, Barkley and Sanches on loan for a year to cover/compete for CM than buy Drinkwater.

Not really, he's started only 8 games in the NT so far since his debut in 2013 with a further 14 substitute appearances. He's usually included in the squad whenever fit but he's by no means an important player for them.
akgw13 867
if we manage to get Barkley for under 30m id be thrilled. Lots of untapped potential. Interesting comparison of Barkley vs Sigurdsson: https://differentgame.wordpress.com/2017/06/12/the-data-scout-gylfi-sigurdsson-v-ross-barkley-part-one/
Pizy 18,909
Puzzled as to why we'd want both Drinkwater and Barkley. Even if just one of them came in they'd struggle for minutes. Won't complain if we get both, though, since our squad would go from paper thin to excellent if all these deals go through. Would also be kind of awesome to have two of the most talented, relatively young English players at Chelsea in Barkley and Ox. With great coaching their potential is massive. J.F. 1,484
Average player at his best, just like Oxlade, u can find bunch of players like them in Spain, Italy, Germany for 15M max

Go on. They're both good players with untapped potential. A move is what they both need. Honestly, for them being at least squad players they'd both be good sensible signings. Drinkwater is like a little ankle biter round the place, gets stuck in whereas Barkley would be more creative

Probably going by their numbers. Plus we are an English club and we need English players. Simples.
Eidur the Spider 4,515
Would be nice to have a bit more creativity in midfield. He just needs to sort his hair out, not fancying the wet pubes look.

English talents are so painfully overrated. They get to produce nothing for years yet still hold the title of 'massive talent'. All based on a couple of flashes of quality over a period of years. I just don't get it. It's the same thing over and over again. That's not great talent. That's a decent/average player having a good day every now and again, rather than some huge prospect who mysteriously manages to underperform for years. I'm not saying they're not talented but the level of their talent, and others like them (not just the English), are overestimated by many. I welcome both though. HG players are needed and it's not like Chels can sign the likes of Verratti, Neymar etc.
!Hazard! 3,394
He would basically be a replacement for Oscar. Selling Oscar for £52m, buying Barkley for £25-30m = Very good business. He's a better player too with greater potential IMO
