It is your comment I can understand though. Easy for you to come in after a miss like that and spout non sense.

How is he better?

He is quicker, creates better opportunities for himself, can beat his man, is just as good in the air, is more dynamic and allows us to play in more ways attacking wise than Giroud.

I could give a flying feck if he misses that chance this season. He is clearly lacking in confidence, but so is the entire team. He keeps getting into good positions, and he will eventually bury them.

None of the things you mentioned make him a better striker. Scorpion kick? Who cares? Better goal scoring record? Not this season. Want me to name you a bunch who had better records than Drogba?

Fooled by price tag? No. I just use my eyes. He is the better player. Just because he is in a rough patch, doesn't mean he is utter shite.

This comment has been refuted by Giroud today, thankfully.

Morata is not going to win, is he? Doesn't score goals, people moan. Scores goals, people also moan.

Nope hes not got a chance haha. Morata every time he plays he gets chances, just needs that bit of ruthlessness that will come hopefully as he continues to mature as a first choice striker. He is maybe 25 or whatever but this is his real first season as the leading man in all honesty. He will be seeing Giroud coming up with the goods in games and putting the pressure on Conte to play him so he will need to get that about his game but like you said, scored but still there are plenty of moans.... not had a bad season, its a long term contract he signed so I have no doubts that he will be more ruthless next season and he hits 27,28 will be a very good striker for us. His general play is good so its not like he doesn't contribute even if he doesn't score some games. People seem to take that for granted but we also need to remember hes a different style of number 9 to Costa, who was more experienced, much more physical and aggressive who was also ruthless in front of goal.

Morata was better in 10 mins than Giroud was the whole game.

Typical of this board.

Rag on the same players and give them no credit even when they play well. Giroud had a very average day apart from the goal. No one will bother to mention the chances he butchered, or the ones he failed in creating due to his lack of pace.

Morata should score easily 3 goals yesterday. He score just one with his head but fail again 2 face to face with his feet, that's a big problem.

In the end, when he was on the pitch, Southampton play full attack and we have created many more occasion.

In the 60 first minutes, Southampton play very strong behind. So Morata in less time had an easily game than Giroud for me, he had so more space to play.

We can't compare Morata and Giroud because it's two strikers totally differents, and it's the best for us that we can count on two different profile.

For sur Giroud lack of pace, but when he is on the pitch, the others players must know they can't make trough pass with him. He must play short.

Howewer, he is a class player back in the goal. he is strong, play like a best and give 100% for us when he is on the pitch.

In the end, they complete each other.

The big difference at this moment, his Giroud don't need 10 occasions to scores a goal.

I keep faith in Morata, I think the first season can be difficult for a player who don't know english football or english culture. And i hope next season he become a more complete striker.

But Giroud stay our better striker at this moment.

In term of potential, yes morata is better and yes he must become our number one.

But for the rest of the season i don't want take the risk to give the key at Morata who score juste 2 goals in 2018.

We have a cup to win, and a little hope to finish top 4. We must finish this season with 5 win.

What about the last game vs. Southampton then? When Giroud came on for Morata and won us the game by scoring twice to keep even the slimmest hopes of top four alive?

Why are you a lot harsher on Giroud than Morata? Morata cost over 3 times Giroud did and is pretty much still in the same tier as a striker.

Because the rest of the board is the exact opposite.

Excuse me for trying to maintain a semblance of balance.

Won't bother arguing this any further. One has scored more goals this season anyway. I'll just bump this next season.

Rightfully so... Morata cost us £70m. Giroud a mere £18m. Olivier is proving to be better value for money at the moment. Of course he’s going to be scrutinised more. He’s meant to be our number 1 striker but our backup striker is arguably doing better than him.

Also, I think Giroud has a better goals per minute ratio than Morata this season (and if not it’s probably very close anyway - this with Giroud starting a lot less games too). You don’t need to bump anything next season - Morata should be the better player but at the moment he isn’t. I just wanted to find out why you’re more critical of Giroud than Morata but saying it’s because you’re trying to provide “balance”... I don’t know. Like I said above, Morata is rightfully going to be held to a higher standard than Giroud, thus is going to be criticised more if things aren’t going his way.

He's been far better the last few games (bar the Southampton away game). He looks fitter, that burst of pace looks back that he had at the start of the season, and I do think he's starting to understand the physicality of the league. He's built for the league, he just needs to embrace those aspects.

He clearly has the intelligence of a striker to find pockets of space and has the pace to exploit that which Giroud doesn't have. The three chances he managed in the last 15 minutes yesterday show that.

He just needs to show a more ruthless streak with his finishing. Hopefully it's a confidence thing and he'll be all the better for this year's experience next year. If it's a technical thing though we could struggle again next year without someone who's capable of scoring 20+ league goals.

Morata is the epitome of a "one trick pony", which isn't bad but as Chelsea FC, our main striker needs to be more than that. Having spunked 60m on a player, you would expect the player to be more than a "one trick pony". Giroud does everything better, except his lack of pace. Even yesterday in the first half, you saw that control and volley shot from Giroud, which was a miss but he used a sublime technique to get that shot away, which is something Morata is poor at.

I think a lot of Chelsea fans will always lack respect for Giroud, simply because he came from Arsenal.

That's bollocks mate. Chelsea fans don't care where players came from as long as they do the business. In the 80's one of our most popular players Mickey Hazard came from Spurs.
