Morata is more than good enough. Slagging him off when the whole team was playing like garbage isn't fair.

Giroud comes on and Conte changes the whole formation and tactics to a far more attacking one... Of course we're going to produce more chances.

Giroud is a great sub, but saying he is better than Morata is a joke. Just because our manager can't set up properly, don't take it out on the players.

It's these comments that I simply cannot understand. In what way is Morata the better striker? Before Morata joined us, he scored only 40 top flight league goals in his entire life and started to hit double figures from last season. He is a Real Madrid reject twice. If we compare that to Giroud, he is a proven PL striker. He has reached double figures consistently throughout his career, helped his nation reach Euro 2016 finals, scored a great scorpion kick, and has better goal scoring record than Morata. Nowadays, people are easily fooled by the price tag.

Perhaps because Giroud does very little aside from scoring. Some say that’s enough, but reckon it isn’t for a top club. Morata is a lot faster, agile, with better technique and can even beat players with runs.

one is arsenal reject and the other a younger Real Madrid reject. I know which i’d pick. ;)

I don’t know if morata will ever deliver at Chelsea, but I hardly doubt Giroud is starter material either.

in other words, morata not being good enough does not make Giroud good enough.

Yeah, it would be crazy. You must assume a player of his quality has some ambition.

Kinda off topic but not qualifying for CL is gonna hurt this season. Lots of top players available it seems this summer...

Were aren't exactly going for top draw players at the moment and our best signing in a number of years joined after we finished 10th.

It more about having a plan in place long term that would entice signings should the inevitable occur (4 games in which anything could happen).

We don’t have either.

It is your comment I can understand though. Easy for you to come in after a miss like that and spout non sense.

How is he better?

He is quicker, creates better opportunities for himself, can beat his man, is just as good in the air, is more dynamic and allows us to play in more ways attacking wise than Giroud.

I could give a flying feck if he misses that chance this season. He is clearly lacking in confidence, but so is the entire team. He keeps getting into good positions, and he will eventually bury them.

None of the things you mentioned make him a better striker. Scorpion kick? Who cares? Better goal scoring record? Not this season. Want me to name you a bunch who had better records than Drogba?

Fooled by price tag? No. I just use my eyes. He is the better player. Just because he is in a rough patch, doesn't mean he is utter shite.

He’s only quicker, better dribbler and more dynamic. Everything else you’ve mentioned Giroud is either equal or better at. We actually play better football when Giroud leads the line and Giroud has scored/been involved in way better goals than Morata has in his career. At this moment Giroud is a more accomplished striker than Morata. Not to say that Morata can’t become better but at this moment let’s be honest with ourselves.

I feel like he needs a strong world cup to settle back down.

Only question is does he start over Costa for them this summer? I cant see it.
Not sure he'll make the final squad tbh. Costa, Rodrigo & Aspas are probably ahead of him to play that role.

That would probably end his confidence before the season even started then
