Depressing stuf tbh. At least he has some athletic ability. Maybe Conte can make him a better player.

Sounds like a Chelsea panic buy alright! Probably loaned next summer to a second rate Spanish side or something.

Not a bad signing if we get the fee right, but I'm looking at it more in terms of what it means for positional movement. If it means Alonso slots in at left back and Azpi claims his rightful position (pun not intended) at right back and Brana adds to our CB options then fair game. 

If it's just one of those Filipe Luis signings where he plays INSTEAD of Azpi for a bit during cup games and the odd easier Prem game then fuck that. 

I liked what I saw of him at Sunderland, I'd be lying if I said I knew how he's played in Italy but if he does sign give him a fair crack, not every signing under 40million is going to be another Papy. Just sayin'. Some on here sound more like Arsenal fans every day.

Already get the feeling that he would be Baba v2 if we signed him. Everyone and their mother figured Baba was brought in to play straight away and Azpi would move back to his position. Never happened.

Same here. Natural LB, super comfortable on the ball and good going forward like Conte prefers but he'll probably be a squad player with Ivanovic still starting.

Can't remember much of his time in England but those highlight reels make him look very technical, great Seems to be an accurate crosser, decent aerial threat, quick and like most tall lanky guys stronger than he looks.I like his first touch and that swagger about him when he moves. Tho YouTube videos are absolutely useless to assess the defensive ability of a player, but hey if it is Ivanovic he is replacing effectively he can only be an upgrade. He even has the same height the which dismantles the only argument Mou defended Iva's selection  continued with.

Think  Conte needed a faster and more athlethic full back so that ruled Put RiRo Who is pure shit defensively. But we should have tried for Gaya, Coentrao or Digne earlier

He was one of the best LBs in Serie A but I've never seen him play ... there is not much quality LB players on the market apart from him, Hector and Rodriguez (worst defender out of those 3). I don't know why are we not pushing for German international ... really good player with even higher potential.

I will repeat it again. He's the best option out of Rodriguez and Hector. Rodriguez is so bad defensively it's a joke. He is very slow too. He scores a free kick now and then and people are blinded by this. Great crosser of the ball tho. But we can't afford to have defensively bad fullback on the left side where Hazard plays. Hector is just average, Alonso is great option.
