However outlandish it was, people were warming to the idea of selling Kante (our most important player WITH Hazard in the team) as Sarri didn't view him as a good fit early on.

Nothing to do with conspiracy. Roll on the day we sign a proper CF and no longer have to deal with "duds" or this topic.

I think that the numbers being floated to accept a sale of Kante were so high (£150-160m plus) that IF PSG did actually toss that kind of cash out there, we would have been mad to not snap it up, especially IF we could have worked out some deal for Mbappe going the other way for another £75m to £100m on top  (Neymar was still their solid, locked on the team, number one at the time)

Kante plus £90m or so for Mbappe, well I would have bitten PSG's hands off for that back then (and would do so now)

Kante turns 30 next season

Mbappe turns 22

Mbappe, IMHO, is already the best player on the planet, now that Messi and CR7 are ageing off toward the end of their careers (at least in terms of the insane standard they have set for the last 10 plus years, although Messi will last longer)

It would be absolute insanity to let one of our three CFs go during this window. Absolute madness. Tammy and Giroud are quite alike as forwards, Michy gives us something a little different that might even have been what we desperately needed last season.

What is it about Batshuayi that all our managers seem to hate to the point they refuse to play him and wish to sell?

I am really at a loss here. I know he is far from perfect, but he is still fairly young, has pace, a knack for goals, works his arse off (watch his pressing this preseason), and is a good bloke, character wise.

He seems to me to be our best overall striker (granted not a lot to get there.) I think it is madness to loan/sell him now.

Luiz I understand, and after last night I feel much better about Zouma and Tomori (I never, unlike many here, have had recent doubts about AC.)

I want Bats to stay and to be used a lot!!!!

Going forward with only Giroud and Tammy (I feel terrible for the kid, but he just, at least atm, is not nearly good enough) is worrisome, to put it lightly, especially if one goes down injured. :(

I suspect the reason is that bats is indisciplined and unfocused (low work rate too), which is something managers usually hate, esp in the modern game.

regarding cover, we usually run very thin squads regardless of UCL or not. Kinda weird but that’s the way we roll.

A question to the huge majority of the community. Are you gonna make the same error of judgment than Sarri, the last season ? Or maybe, it's not the right question i should ask and i rather should ask what are you really looking for ? An holder front striker or a fantasy ?  A young and good looking front striker, someone who could be you, someone you'd like to be, a Drogba's son...??? Someone with more pace than anyone in your virtual games ? A future star, a young footballer who 'll score many goals...some day ?

But certainly not the only one in our team, despite everything which can't make you dream, who can physically crush the defenses, scores important goals, makes fabulous assists and play his partners better ? I hope for Chelsea, Lampard won't be blind as you are.

We'll  certainly have the opportunity, for the next months to talk again about it  but remenber we have no other alternative than Giroud for this season and rather imagining second zone players becoming suddenly first class killers, you should more worry about the crosses from Willian, Pedro and Azpi which never get in the penalty area, it's a shame when you have in your team, an header like the french man !

It is simple for me

I want a ruthless striker who scores a shedload of goals and helps out the high press

only one I see on the team who even has that potential AND has at least scored a lot at high level (Dortmund and Palace, he scored at a pace that equals 25 goals in 45 games) is Bats

Tammy just doesn't produce at a high level

will that change? who knows but I do not see it atm TBF

Chelsea Star In No Rush To Leave, Ready To Fight For Game Time

http://www.insidefutbol.com/2019/08/17/chelsea-star-in-no-rush-to-leave-ready-to-fight-for-game-time/434049/

Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi is not ready to leave Stamford Bridge yet, with the Belgian striker ready to see if he can force his way into the team before the European transfer window closes.

The Belgian has struggled to make an impact at Chelsea since joining the club in 2016 and has been out to several clubs on loan deals.

He still has time left on his deal with Chelsea and there has been interest in him from Roma, who have put in an enquiry to take him to Italy this summer.

But according to Belgian daily Het Laatste Nieuws, the striker is not in any rush to leave Chelsea while he sees none of the attackers ahead of him in the pecking order pulling up trees.

damn, it looks likely that IF Roma agree to make the deal a loan with the obligation to buy, Bats may be gone

Italian national paper (the pretty reliable Corriere dello Sport), with Google translate

Roma, if Schick leaves, Batshuayi arrives

Petrachi is working to find a replacement in case of a farewell to the Czech. Timo Werner is a practically impossible hypothesis

https://www.corrieredellosport.it/news/calcio/calcio-mercato/2019/08/15-60047391/roma_se_parte_schick_arriva_batshuayi/

ROME - Schick at Dortmund , Batshuayi at Roma . It is the working hypothesis on which Petrachi is working, assisted by agent Vigorelli who is also the manager of Zaniolo and Santon . Batshuayi, who played for six months in Borussia, had been very close to Rome in January 2018 , when Monchi was negotiating the sale of Dzeko to Chelsea . Now his appeal is falling, after a season in chiaroscuro between the loan at Valencia and the following semester at Crystal Palace: in all it produced 9 networks in 36 presences . Back at Chelsea, he is not part of Lampard's plans and is on the market. However, it is unlikely that it will still move on loan, having changed three teams and many cities in eighteen months. Would prefer a transfer outright . Class '93, it is valued at 25 million .

Much therefore depends on Schick , who rejected Newcastle and other solutions in view of a transfer to the Bundesliga , with the idea of playing in Champons. If Borussia Dortmund borrows it with a redemption obligation, Rome can attempt the same operation with Batshuayi , who has been a pupil of Baldini since the time of Marseille. Almost impossible instead the road that leads to Timo Werner , a young striker of the German national team: Bayern has already blocked him for the next season on a free transfer , at the end of his contract with Leipzig. Petrachi had actually been informed but he realized that there was no margin to break into the matter.

cannot say I am happy about this:(

Ironic if that is where he goes there and Bats to Roma, and Bat's happiest time as a pro was at Borussia Dortmund

I cannot for the life of me figure out why they do not make a move for him, he was a beast there until he got injured

It would be great if so many weren't naive. Have to laugh at those that say he isn't "a proven finisher".

Oh no, he’s definitely a good finisher and a proven one at that.

Unfortunately, he’s also not a very good football player, which makes him quite the wrong choice for a high press.

We need nothing more than a proven finisher right now. Two games in and we're already talking about "bad luck" when it has nothing to do with that.

If you don't take your chances, you'll lose more often than not. Mount & Pedro created NINE chances between them against Utd, so please do remind me what the score was.

P.S. Costa wasn't exactly El Fenomeno reincarnated btw

We hit the woodwork 3 times already and scored 2 offside goals. There is an element of bad luck to it. But yeah we need a finisher. I would honestly start Michy vs Leicester.

Two identical chances presented themselves in our last two games where great balls were played in with no one in the box.

Such instances are crying out for a poacher. If Lampard was actually speaking the truth, this is the ideal opportunity
