Is he just on holiday here till the summer?

yup bizarre signing to be honest.

The only think I can think of is what they are observing him in training and considering his asking price isn't very high for a striker, they may pull the trigger even if he doesn't play too many games.

Possibly, but he hasn't even been in a Matchday squad IIRC. He must be seriously out of shape or Guus isn't really keen

A big questions needs raising here because who on earth in their right minds brings a player to a football club ON LOAN, who's nowhere near fit at all, to put them through what has been called 'pre-season training' and 4 weeks later is still not close to action? I find it fucking absolutely diabolical management, scouting....call it what you want.

They haven't got a fucking clue, they really haven't.

He was only in pre-season in Brazil I'm sure, pretty harsh to judge him without even letting him get a chance but at Milan he was one of the most outstanding young players in Europe and everyone would of taken him then before he had his huge injury issues. The last 2 or 3 years in Brazil he has been injury free so lets see what happens when he gets match fitness, he cant be worse than Falcao.

He can be worse than Falcao. Falcao did at least score.

What I think is happening is that Guus didn't want Pato and since Traore has done so well, he's been fine with letting Pato take his time and won't even consider using him until he's 100% fit. That'll take some time for a team that has two capable, in-form strikers.

And let's not forget, Traore has been with Chelsea for a while and Costa is in his second season. Pato isn't just getting up to fitness, he's learning a new team system and is moving to a completely new league. Just because he's fit doesn't mean he's match ready.

The 21s have a game at St. Mary's tonight. Unless Pato is going to be in the squad for Norwich, there can be absolutely no reason why he should not get some minutes there. After four weeks of pre-season he must be able to manage some sort of appearance even if not an actual start. If there is no sign of him over the next couple of nights, and we keep being fed the he's in pre-season line, then the club are hiding something.

^^

Update: When Guus was asked about Pato at today's press conference he first tried to duck the question by talking about Traore again but then, under some better questioning (at last), he stated that Pato is ready for some minutes though not a full ninety. He said he would have to see this afternoon whether Pato would be in tomorrow's squad and then returned to the Traore theme, suggesting that Bertie can be considered to be ahead of our latest Brazilian. The way Guss said this leaves room to interpret it as meaning because of fitness issues but I think it's hard to escape the suspicion that Guus actually just prefers Bertie full stop.

If that suspicion is true then I can't say I'm surprised but I am a bit disappointed because, if those people who rate Pato rather more than I do are right, he would be particularly useful in Pedro's absence.

Finally ready. I wonder what game Costa will be rested for

In the conference today Guus gave some fairly broad hints that he is going to prioritise PSG & Everton and that we'll see at least some rotation vs Norwich, and especially Stoke. The especially Stoke bit is my guess not anything Guss said.

That's what I was thinking. Home game would be the better choice to play Remy/Pato or Traore.
