Signing crooked strikers on loan and unknown, cheap players no one has ever heard of? Are we becoming a stingy, bargain basement club like Arsenal have been over the past decade? This is what Chelsea's doing in order to save what's left to be saved from this season. The club doesn't even know who the next manager's gonna be, we have an interim one now and we need to do what it takes to finish the season as honorable as possible. You can't make big changes in your squad in January, without even knowing the new manager's name. Things will be different in the summer. Nevertheless, this player might be unknown for us, but the club has scouters and since they believe that he's a good addition, why not? Was Varane known and expensive when Real Madrid signed him? the wes 7,212
MATT MIAZGA SCOUTING REPORT Matt Miazga? Should we know more about him? He's played well in Major League Soccer. He's 20, strong in the air and a force in both boxes. AT 6ft 4in, he's a strong boy. Four-Four-Two recently compared him to Jaap Stam. Where does he come from? He was born in New Jersey and has a Polish passport, which helps English clubs. There are no work permit fights to be had. He chooses where he wants to sign and that's where he goes. Deal done. He's played 39 games in the MLS. How long have clubs been watching him? He signed for the New York Red Bulls academy when he was 14. People have known about him for a long time. Scouts have flocked to watch him. Up to ten Premier League clubs have scouted him, including all the big teams. But he'll just come and either sit on the bench or be loaned out, right? Wrong. Part of the deal is that he gets the chance to play. Of course he has to prove he is good enough, but there is confidence from the Americans that he is a talent. Jurgen Klinsmann rates him highly and recently gave him his first cap. What's the verdict? He's tall, powerful and has a strong leap. He can handle the physical part of the game too. He won't be bullied. When is he coming? Soon. In this window. MLS are always keen to announce these deals, but your friendly and reliable MailOnline will be checking to find out more so we can be first with the news. Wherever the story breaks, remember the name - this kid could be a real force.

*Z4YN 69
Just wait for his performances before you judge him. I am also skeptical but jeez, some guys here seriously need to chill out.
LondonsFinest 692
I am actually crying at how fickle our fans are. We sign a youngster on the cheap and we'll only win in both situations. We'll definitely sell him for more than 2 mil. or he'll be a player for us. Ofcourse, people who have never actually seen him play and can't judge his potential are quick to write him off. The same people who were laughing off Kenedy and are now begging for him to be getting more game time. You amaze me, more so you make me sick. aloktr 0
This singing is not that important... Reality is we have not signed any world class player since 2 transfer windows(don't say Pedro)!! A cb and cm were priority : none! Singed falco on loan, kept Remy , no drogba, loaned young Chelsea stickers , Costa injury prone, loaning pato?? Seriously ?? That's bad business.. And the results are before us

I'd rather not make any changes at all in January than sign players to "save" this season. We aren't making top 4 and we aren't winning the CL. Think we have all we need currently to make an FA Cup run. Signing anyone but elite players is in my opinion a waste. And you don't sign elite players without a manager so we may as well wait. ZanSnake 1,211
Some people want us to sign unknown players with potential because then we would save £££ when we try to buy once unknown players who was given time to become great players elsewhere. Now people complain signing young talented uknowns. That are dirt cheap.
Blue_Fox_ 2,086
The team at this moment in time needs a proper cb, someone better than Cahill, can partner Zouma and has been playing at the top level for a few years, there's no two ways about it, we don't need this kid. 11Drogba 2,000
I found this on reddit: He's a young (20) American-Polish CB who was one of the best defenders in MLS this past season. He plays for the New York Red Bulls who play a high line and up-tempo pressing game predicated on quick transitions from turnover to counter via easy, direct passes not unlike Dortmund. In terms of his position that often means he has to play exposed if the press is broken. He's got all the physical tools you would want in a central defender and has played as a professional since he was 16. He's tall, lanky, strong, and fast. Looks a bit like Koscienly but taller. When he first began as a professional he had a very bad tendency to commit stupid fouls and was often a red-card waiting to happen. He had bad tactical sense and seemed to make up for poor positioning with his athleticism, often with disastrous results. In the past year he's made incredible strides in his composure and reading of the game. Like, seriously, he went from the 3rd choice CB of his team to one of the undisputed best in the league, baffling a lot of long-time MLS / US followers like myself in the process. But the kid's the real deal. That's the only conclusion you can come to if you watch his games. Along with Tottenham's Cameron Carter-Vickers, he formed one of the best if not the best defensive partnerships in last summer's U20 World Cup; they kept clean sheets in their last two knockout games, including against a strong Colombia side and the eventual winners Serbia, whom they got knocked out by via penalties. Is he good enough for Chelsea? Who knows. But he's certainly a prospect and one that many in this thread (mostly the English) are underrating simply because of his ethnicity. Also, he was very highly recruited by Poland before ultimately choosing the USA. He's also been on many scouts' watch-lists since he debuted and has always been seen as a player with huge potential

LAM09 7,069
Are we just buying players to sell on for a profit in the future? It has been that way for several years. I'm aware, but I didn't think almost every youngster we sign will follow the same fate. Might have to change if we're not in Europe and receive a transfer ban. Also, we should be buying players that actually have the potential to start here at some point. Zouma seems like the only exception.

Special Juan 28,188
Never heard of him, if we sign him I probably still won't hear of him. Don't particularly care in all honesty, only bothered about the next 3 points.
