Djilobodji, Falcao, Hector, Pato, Miazga. We're settling for mediocrity now, aren't we? Somebody seriously needs to be sacked from the board.

Think this guy is just another young prospect which we'll buy cheap, loan out out and try and sell again after a couple of years for a profit. Papy and Hector fall into that category aswell. I don't think the club is actually thinking about them as starters. Unless they develop extremely well.

Could be that he'll stay at the club first and take up the number 4 cb slot, basically taking over from Papy and then get loaned out next season.

Falcao was a stupid deal (was against it the moment i heard about it).

As long as Remy stays and we aren't left with just Costa, Pato and Falcao i'm fine with Pato. Seems like a low risk (low investment) / high potential reward to me.

What's the point of that when we probably won't even be using him? He'll be lucky if he doesn't end up at Vitesse (or somewhere else) next season.

He may not be ready right now but he has potential. Miazga is only 20 years old. I don't think this transfer has any similarity to the transfers you mentioned.

That's probably one of things that's pissing many people off. We seem more interested in gaining profit than actually strengthening the first team with quality players. Our squad depth and quality right now is absolute joke especially for a big club that wants to stay at the top, be better and win more trophies.

We have youth players who have potential but look what we are doing with them? Nothing. What's to say things won't be different with Miazga? This signing has similarity to the other players mentioned because they won't be here for long and they are nothing more than aimless/pointless signings done by the club.

Understand what you're saying but we've been doing this for some time now and it is beneficial for us in the long run. We've made plenty of profit on players from our loan system and that does help us in buying players for the first team.

I've said it before in the transferwindow thread but i'm expecting nothing from actual reinforcements this window.

We have very little to play for this season and we don't know who our manager will be next season so it really doesn't make any sense to buy players for the first team.

Is this really what Chelsea is becoming? Signing crooked strikers on loan and unknown, cheap players no one has ever heard of?

Are we becoming a stingy, bargain basement club like Arsenal have been over the past decade?

This is what Chelsea's doing in order to save what's left to be saved from this season. The club doesn't even know who the next manager's gonna be, we have an interim one now and we need to do what it takes to finish the season as honorable as possible. You can't make big changes in your squad in January, without even knowing the new manager's name. Things will be different in the summer.

Nevertheless, this player might be unknown for us, but the club has scouters and since they believe that he's a good addition, why not? Was Varane known and expensive when Real Madrid signed him?

MATT MIAZGA SCOUTING REPORT

Matt Miazga? Should we know more about him?

He's played well in Major League Soccer. He's 20, strong in the air and a force in both boxes. AT 6ft 4in, he's a strong boy. Four-Four-Two recently compared him to Jaap Stam.

Where does he come from?

He was born in New Jersey and has a Polish passport, which helps English clubs. There are no work permit fights to be had. He chooses where he wants to sign and that's where he goes. Deal done. He's played 39 games in the MLS.

How long have clubs been watching him?

He signed for the New York Red Bulls academy when he was 14. People have known about him for a long time. Scouts have flocked to watch him. Up to ten Premier League clubs have scouted him, including all the big teams.

But he'll just come and either sit on the bench or be loaned out, right?

Wrong. Part of the deal is that he gets the chance to play. Of course he has to prove he is good enough, but there is confidence from the Americans that he is a talent. Jurgen Klinsmann rates him highly and recently gave him his first cap.

What's the verdict?

He's tall, powerful and has a strong leap. He can handle the physical part of the game too. He won't be bullied.

When is he coming?

Soon. In this window. MLS are always keen to announce these deals, but your friendly and reliable MailOnline will be checking to find out more so we can be first with the news. Wherever the story breaks, remember the name - this kid could be a real force.

Hmmm yes.. I can think of another player who was "compared" to Jaap Stam...
