I've said before the interview that he would look forward to developing players like Luiz - when the Luiz's departure rumors started and then he mentioned him in the list of players he sees potential and wants to develop.

there's no way in hell Mourinho is offloading Mata and Mata already said that despite teams looking his manager he wants to stay.

I'd trust Mourinho selling Mata. I think we overrate him (sorry) just slightly. He goes missing in a lot of games despite pulling something out the bag and he really is not a playmaker; he's simply an attacking midfielder (like Iniesta is an attacking midfielder whereas Silva would be a playmaker).

Mourinho likes proper playmakers in advanced positions like Deco, Sneijder and Ozil - something we currently don't have.

I don't think there's substance to the Marca story at all, but I would on a level understand the reasoning.

I'd be upset though. My favourite player Mata is.

Mata last season emerged as a leader of this team and stepped up to put the ball in the net in big games, and when he didn't do that, he was setting up someone else to score. Right now he's probably as good as it gets for any player in that #10 position, especially when it comes to effectiveness in the final third. 20 goals and 30+ assists is no joke, it's ridiculous to entertain any thought of selling him, because finding a better player is next to impossible.

To all the teams he has come he has stuck with the person that had the best personality to be leaders, and got rid of the troublemakers.

Mata is the nicest guy you will ever get. So Mourinho is not stupid to do such a thing.

If he does, then something wrong with the guy.

The only reason I will see the club selling someone like David Luiz and such is because they want to go, like Robben did to Madrid. But after that, Mourinho and the club are not stupid.

I know we all love Mourinho and he's great manager but he's no god. The way some people have completely worshipped him recently and will believe as well as trust whatever he does, right or wrong, is just ridiculous. If he suddenly decides to sell of all Mata, Hazard, Oscar etc and play the same physical style like last time, would the same people agree with that? Just because it's Mourinho, that doesn't mean he can do no wrong, be allowed to do whatever he wants and escape any sort of criticisms. If this was any other manager that wants to sell Mata, Luiz etc, people would have gone bonkers immediately. And let's not forget that Mourinho's business in the tranfer market is not exactly perfect either.

Good gracious. I stated I'd understand Mourinho's reasoning for selling Mata due to him preferring a different sort of player. I didn't say "Mata is the same level as Benayoun, I hope he is sold" but you'd think it.
