The Mourinho Thread

Don't think it's far-fetched to say that Mourinho is annoyed by the fact that RDM won us the Champions League, a trophy he failed to win with us. And not to mention, RDM did it in under 6 months while Mourinho couldn't do it in 3 years.

Mourinho has two UCL titles and we were clearly robbed in our of our runs under him. I don't see any reason why he could be annoyed. He seems not like him much. It's very simple to me. I can't say one manager in the world Mourinho would be out by out of jealousy...

This.

But if he loves the club as much as he claims to, then he's got to respect the legend of Di Matteo. Because Robbie delivered for this club both as a player and as a manager, his name is written in the history and nothing can change it.

This is what I suspect is going on also. His tone when asked about di matteo and overall desposition towards him leads me to one conclusion that Jose doesn't like Di matteo and there's no other logical reason for it other than jealousy. I bet he feels the same way towards Ancelotti for achieving what he couldn't i.e deliver real madrid the La decima.

Hmmm don't think it's jealousy. In his first interview back at Chelsea he praised Robbie and said he did a fantasic job by winning the CL. But recently before the match he sound a little bit annoyed, maybe because of the amount of questions and comparisons between the two. He said "don't ask me to speak about him, he made history here and is a part of the history of the club, I also made my history and want to make more." He said the same about LVG when asked about Louis, "don't ask me to speak about him cause I can speak for hours about him, everyone knows what I feel for him."

Robbed is 2008-09, not the games under Mourinho.

you mean the moscow final (which I don't even want to remember, I don't remember being as hateful, pissed off and simply devastated by a sports match like that), I actually mean in the SF against Liverpool in 2005...

Pretty sure he is talking about that Barcelona at SF home match (2nd leg)

I do think José doesn't like di Matteo much... but he has a chance to match his accomplishment now that he's back at the club, that's what makes it so hard for me to believe he's annoyed by Roberto winning what he didn't with Chelsea...

He took some jabs on RdM and FSW, but I've never seen a bad word about King Carlo....

Actually I mean the SF against Barca with the 4 penalty appeals turned down. You're talking about the ghost goal? Well when your tactics depend on everyone doing their job perfectly then referee/player mistakes are inevitable (as we again saw last year with Hazard v Atletico).

We were so much better than Liverpool that we didn't need to be so defensive. Our approach was very disappointing and ultimately costly, especially in 06-07 where we won 1-0 at home and all we needed was to score a single goal in the second leg. Liverpool would then have had to score 3 but Jose decided to play for the 0-0, conceded and lost on penalties. It's no surprise that once he left we beat Liverpool twice in the CL in the following 2 seasons with a more attacking approach.

I think it's a combination of that and RDM being AVB's man - someone who Mourinho isn't too fond of either. It's a shame because Robbie is a big character in the club's history. Oh well.

Yes, two UCLs but not with "his Chelsea". I can totally see Jose being subconsciously jealous of Robbie.

It's like how almost any man in the world instantly hates the first guy his girlfriend slept with even if she broke up with him a long time ago and even if the man himself has slept with a dozen girls before his girlfriend. It doesn't have to make sense, in fact, jealousy rarely does.

If it is true, I wouldn't think any less of Jose. On the contrary, it would be kinda 'cute' how passionate he is and how much his love is genuine for the club.

Maybe he just doesn't like him, you don't need to be jealous to hate someone, right?

Jose never dislike anyone from a professional standpoint for no reason. Rafa (for obvious reasons), Pep (He was denied the barca job because of him and was his biggest and main rival in spain) Pelegrini( Jose hated him because he secceeded him at madrid and the comparisons which were drawn by the media infuriated him) Mancini (Jose, again like Pellegrini, took over from him and the media compared their achievements at inter when Jose had a disappointing champions league campaign in his first season there), Wenger (The reigning manager in the epl before jose took over and their rivalry between 2004-07 has been reignited with his return to the league).

What's the common denominator here? These managers have all either been very successful and seen as rivals or were succeeded by Jose.

How many unsuccesful/irrelevant managers and/or managers with no ties to the club he has managed does he hate. There's a clear and undeniable pattern here. How come he doesn't hate Ruud Gullit or Glen Hoddle or Vialli, perhaps because they didn't win the trophy that he has been unable to win at Chelsea and therefore as no reason to be insecure towards them.

Ferguson was the only exception here because he's always respected him depsite being a hugely successful rival manager.

I think he could be more jealous about how much Robbie is liked by the supporters - but not because of a title.

For a while his name was sang at the 16th minute, he's been missed by most - even if the same people admit he's tactically poor

I would believe José is jealous of that, but jealous of him winning the UCL instead of him? No way... his chances are there and the first title is no different than la decima, for example.

If there's jealousy, I'd believe it'd be of how much Roberto is loved by us.
