Just saw he terrible free kick. How was his overall performance?

He made a lot of very good runs, but his shots were just awful.Ok,he also had a little bit of bad luck, but still he could have finished much better. After some weird misses,he lost his self confidence and looked very bad.Remy for me is the striker to replace Costa in the next match.

i think falcao was pretty good. his movement is simply brilliant. his link up play was awesome.

his finishing let him down. that baba cut back should have been a goal. but i think he would be a much better option than remy.

The Radamel Falcao of two years ago would have destroyed Lewandowski's record last night. The problem is that his confidence looks shot right now and it is a pitty that he can't find the net because he seems to be over his injury - he makes the right runs, his movement is as good as you can get from a CF and he links up very well with his mates. Biggest problem is in his head and in order to regain some of his old form I think he needs a long run with the first team, something I'm not so sure Jose's willing to give him in the next months. The Radamel Falcao of Atletico is probably done and dusted, but still, the one we have right now is a fine option to have on our bench.

Radamel Falcao vs Walsall (Away) 23/09/2015 Capital One Cup HD

For me he was pretty good last night. Maybe Falcao would have needed to make a goal to increase his self-confidence.

Last year Falcao looked like an oxidized player with Manchester United. But for me he is recovering his movements on the field with us.

What he needs now is to make one, two or three goals in the upcoming matches to regain the self-confidence in front of goal to start being the player he was before.

I think Falcao is going in the right direction. Step by step.

It gets harder and harder justifying his position in the pecking order above remy with each passing day.

I said it at the time that it was a ridiculous decision to bring him here on loan in the first place and that going with Bamford or another young, promising striker, would serve us better and I still totally stand by that.

Admittedtly I thought he would only be our third choice striker but Mourinho making him an automatic 2nd choice striker caught me off guard a little and makes it feel even worse.

I think Remy will get the nod more from the off, so far we have only really seen both off the bench and Falcao has got preffered I'm guessing because of his chemistry with Costa.

I think it will be a similar situation last season with Remy/Drogba, where Drogba was preffered off the bench more often to give us the chance to go more direct and Remy was more often than not chosen to start when Diego was injured/rested and it was a straight choice between those two.

honestly, I disagree.

He looks the same as last year when we look at the root of the problem: a player without any confidence.

His movement is very good, his link-up too, but his touch, passing, and especially his finishing show how much he lost confidence.

The solution is easy: getting the confidence back and he'll be a great player that could make the difference for us - especially given the amount of time Costa is probably going to spend in the sidelines. The thing about confidence though is although it's only mental, it's also very difficult and tricky to find out what could trigger it.

But if there's one man I believe can help a player regain confidence, is Mourinho. So praying for the best, but not overly exciting about the odds of it happening.

Hi Barbara!

I agree in what you say about his confidence. Falcao I need to make two or three goals in the next matches to regain the confidence in himself. His problem is metal, Falcao wanted to be in the World Cup 2014 when it was practically impossible after such a major knee injury in January. After that Van Gaal ended with his confidence leaving him demoralized.

But Jose is different with this type of player. With Falcao he could give back his confidence. When Falcao scored a goal against Crystal Palace that was great, but sadly we lost that game. If Falcao would make two or three with in the next games and we won the matches that would be perfect for his confidence and to see again one of the best N.9 in the world.

I still have confidence in Radamel...
