Talk about Football Manager mentality - as if 5M is small change.

Exactly 5m is a lot. If Fiorentina can milk 5m out of Chelsea for being stubborn then other clubs will start. For the last 2/3 years the club has played hardball with transfers, they can't go soft now.

While I'm not bothered at all about Cuadrado and Douglas, I do think we are taking FFP compliance too far. surely we can afford to spend up to 50m and still be within the limits if the fees are ammortised without having to sell players to fund it. We are playing it too safe honestly.

We got an economist and an accountant in our ranks people!

Sometime there are limits as well, could do a Arsenal and only sign players for 'the right values' :) it is all about that middle ground.

I agree. But Chelsea has a lot more money available than Arsenal. The club has to tread carefully. I do not want a repeat of 2003-2006. Throwing the cash at anything that moves.

The problem is both Schurrle and Salah are now unsettled. We have to move them now...

We don't have to do anyhting. ;^ ) They are professionals, they can deal with it. I'm sure if they try hard enough they can get a break through and turn their respective Chelsea careers around. Well...I'm sure Schurrle can elevate his level to at least his World Cup performances. He is capable of being great, we've seen it. Salah on the otherhand is enigmatic.

Wasn't Henderson dead certain to be sold by Rodgers when he took over :P think there are many other examples of great players turning their careers around at the club after a failed transfer too. Doesn't happen often though, more likely to go down the getting even worse mode and eventually being sold for peanut/free.
