jmarlow 458
I would give it Drogba, of course he wont get it, so I think Ronaldo should get it but Messi will probably get it again! which i cant really argue with either.
The Big Drog 1,110
It looks like Ronaldo is getting all of the hype to win it this year. While he did have a terrific individual season and his Madrid side did topple Barcelona in the league, I still think he needs a strong Euro 2012 to really cement himself as the best player in the world in 2012, Madrid's failure in the Champions League will count against him.Players who should have won it? Thierry Henry probably should have won it, Im amazed that Xavi hasn't won it, if anyone deserves that award it is Xavi. Had Chelsea had a stronger Champions League campaign in our double winning season under Ancelotti I think Drogba might have been in with a shout of winning it. Ollie 4,400
2010 shoulda been Milito indeed, everything he touched that season turned to gold.Iniesta will get it soon, he's an incredible talent, i don't think i've ever seen someone come through a clubs ranks and be so good. He's 28 now, he's due. I'd say2010 - Milito2011 - Messi2012 - Ronaldo (although Messi's stats are ridiculous)2013 - Iniesta2014 - Torres2015 - Hazard

TacticalBlues 2,817
For 2012, if Italy win the Euros, then Pirlo deserves it. Even if they don't win it his unmatchable contribution in Juve's unbeaten season and his performances in the Euros certainly merit genuine contention.1)Pirlo2)Ronaldo3)MessiNot expecting it though because it often boils down to other trifling things. Zinedine Iniesco 172
Ever since FIFA World Player of the Year and FFF's Ballon D'or were merged FIFA Ballon D'or has been awarded to the best individual player. Some take it seriously some think it's a wank. Little Messi has been FIFA's golden child for a while now and I think he shouldn't have won all three awards. The last ten winners looks like this:2011 Lionel Messi2010 Lionel Messi2009 Lionel Messi2008 Cristiano Ronaldo2007 Kaka2006 Fabio Cannavaro2005 Ronaldinho2004 Andriy Shevchenko2003 Pavel Nedved2002 RonaldoIn 2009 I think Lionel Messi was hands down the world's best player he was instrumental in Barcelona's sextuplet. However I don't believe he was the best player in 2010 or 2011. Sure he recorded and astronomical amount of goals and assists but I don't think he was the most important or instrumental player. In 2010 Wesley Sneijder basically carried the Netherlands to the World Cup final where the lost to Spain and was one of the main forces behind Inter Milan's and Italian footballs first ever Treble. Diego Milito is also a good shout for that year because he was even more instrumental in Inter Milan's success scoring 22 goals in the league, the winning goal for the Coppa Italia and the two goals in Inter Milan's Champions League triumph over Bayern Munich. Winner Diego Milito. Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba also deserve a shout for this year. The 2011 winner should definitly been Xavi. He hit his best form this year scoring more goals then he has ever and assisting quite a few also. He dictated play better than ever (when Cesc wasn't on the pitch) and I just don't think Barca could have survived without him. They look so much more vulnerable when Xavi isn't playing, they give up possession more and look more vulnerable on the counter. David Villa would be second for me. With Messi pushing him to the wing he sitll managed to score 20+ goals and a lot of important ones too.My winners:2011 Xavi2010 Diego Milito2009 Lionel MessiWho do think will win in 2012?Ridiculous logic which i just cant agree with. 2010 is a bit meh for me but otherwise lionel messi wins them all. 2012 it's either going to be ronaldo or messi, lets be realistic here. capriccioso 2,545
2006 John Terry 2005 Frank LampardRonaldinho was better than Lampard; and that's saying something considering just he was that year. And it's wishful thinking to think Terry or a defender in general would win it. Unless their name is Fabio Cannavaro.
Hysteria 159
I want Drogba to win it, but also Pirlo.
BlueSunshine 672
What a fucking joke, it's getting more rediculous every year. Platini and his spanish-loving lackeys and media don't even care to keep up the pretences anymore. This is the team that was voted as the best for 2012 : Casillas Alves Pique Ramos Marcelo Xavi Alonso Iniesta Messi Falcao RonaldoDel Bosque was voted as the best coach.Stoch won the Puskas award for the best goal.Messi won the Ballon d'Or again. I don't know if he deserved it this year but he certainly doesn't deserve to have won it 4 fucking times.
termninja 5,290
In my humble opinion, Di Matteo archivement is the biggest when it comes to coaching. Del Bosque won the EURO? Indeed he did, but with the best team in Spain's history and with some of the most boring games I've witnessed. I don't want to be taken as some internet football expert who shits on every success, it wasn't an easy thing to do...but when you look at it from a logical point of view, I do make a fair point, and it's absurd to pick any other then Robbie. As for the best 11 no comment...Marcelo? Really? Ahead of this man?But it makes sense to pick him up in order to balance out the team more towards Madrid I don't bother anymore with those ceremonies, it's like watching a TV Show you know in your little thumb... DYC. 7,542
The team is a joke.About Messi, well.. All I can say is 91 goals and 29 assists in a single year. If I didn't witness it myself, I wouldn't have believed it.
Waterfall 893
Di Matteo >>>> Del Bosque Winning CL & FA cup with our squad is a much greater achievement than winning 6 games in Euro with one of the strongest national sides ever.

Corner 456
Messi won the Ballon d'Or again. I don't know if he deserved it this year but he certainly doesn't deserve to have won it 4 fucking times. He scored 91 goals and had 22 assists in a single calendar year. If he didn't deserve to win it, then no one did.And in my opinion (and most people would agree) he is the best player in the world right now, and has been consistently for the past four years. Therefore, he did deserve to with it four years in a row. No one else has been anywhere near his form over the past four years. They shouldn't award it to someone else just because Messi already won it the previous three years.
LDN Blue 7,903
Team of the year was an absolute farce. Can't argue with Messi, Falco & Ronaldo. Xavi & Iniesta is okay.XABI OVER PIRLO? WHAT? PIQUE?! He's barely featured this year. Alves has been awful.Marcelo has been pretty fantastic, can't fault him. FIFA's bias is evident. Oh and Guardiola's nomination?! No trophies, ended his tenure in MAY. Really?!
kellzfresh 7,229
The world 11 is what is outrageous. How can marcelo be better than ashley?? How can xabi alonso be better than Pirlo??Even the best goal was meant to be for falcao not stoch.I don't even want to mention delbosque and Dimatteo's case. Pathetic. We can at the same time stop promoting football in other countries since spain and laliga is the only place for awards
